Happy New Year! It's that joyous time when we all make resolutions we may or may not remember in a few weeks and look forward to a fresh start, unencumbered by the baggage of the prior 12 months. Over the decades at Marvel, plenty of our most famous heroes have tried on bold new directions—some have worked for a bit, some have carried through to today and some we'd rather forget. Take a look at five new beginnings currently available on Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited.

IRON MAN v2 #1

IRON MAN v2 #1
In 1996, Marvel handed the rein of the Golden Avenger over to prodigal son Jim Lee, who along with artist Whilce Portacio re-imagined Iron Man for a new era, introducing Tony Stark, Pepper Potts and the rest of Shellhead's cast as if it were the very first time. Throw in shocking ties to the Hulk and this unique take on Iron Man defined "Heroes Reborn."

Smith and Quesada's "Guardian Devil" would set the bar for DAREDEVIL to become one of Marvel's most consistently acclaimed titles and it all began here!

NEW X-MEN #114

Writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely rocketed the Children of the Atom into the 21st century with their status quo-shattering "E is for Extinction" story. Introducing Professor X's insidious genetic twin, Cassandra Nova, and showcasing Quitely's bold knack for costume design, this creative team made it clear from the start these would not be your daddy's mutants.

ULTIMATES #1

ULTIMATES #1
One of the most acclaimed comic runs of the past 10 years, writer Mark Millar and artist Bryan Hitch begin their definitive widescreen Ultimate take on the Avengers here. The story begins with Captain America's final tour of duty in World War II—as Hitch brings the European theater to life with his highly detailed art—and ends in the present, where the Super

IMMORTAL IRON FIST #1
