 Digital Comics Highlights: Young Avengers
Posted: 2008-02-06 Updated: 2008-02-08 13:00:20 Every week we'll pick a handful of awesome comics from the thousands available through Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited. From creator spotlights, to editor's picks and more, this'll be your spot to find something new and cool.
For some heroes, putting on tights and smackin' villains around isn't a career choice—it's a family tradition! To celebrate both the recent release of Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung's complete run on YOUNG AVENGERS, as well as the kickoff of YOUNG AVENGERS PRESENTS, we've assembled a smattering of issues culled from Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited that provide peeks at some key moments in the legacies these young heroes now follow in! HOUSE OF M #1
At one point, everyone thinks their parents are crazy, but the Young Avengers' twins Speed and Wiccan trump the competition. After laying the proverbial smack-down on her team-mates in " Avengers: Disassembled," the boys' mommy dearest, Scarlet Witch, loses control of her chaos powers along with her grasp on reality. Read on to see the New Avengers and the Astonishing X-Men join up to stop her from rewriting reality as they know it!
CAPTAIN MARVEL #17
Living up to your parents' standards is one thing, but having a father who's been dubbed the Protector of the Universe creates some galactically huge shoes to fill. In this now-classic story, Hulkling's father--Captain Marvel--stands trapped in the Negative Zone and only the young Rick Jones, armed the mysterious Nega-bands, can free him in time to stop an alien threat. The adventure begins here!
TRUTH: RED, WHITE AND BLACK #1
Every family has secrets, but for Patriot, his family is the secret. Before injecting Steve Rogers with the Super Soldier Serum, the U.S. Government used young black soldiers as test subjects to perfect the formula. Follow the story of Patriot's grandfather, Isaiah Bradley, and learn the truth behind the secret project that created Captain America in this Marvel Must Read!
AVENGERS #57
Think your parents were evil? We bet they weren't built by a maniacal artificial intelligence (complete with its own daddy-issues) for the sole purpose of revenge. Thought not, sucka. In this early Avengers adventure, Ultron returns and unleashes his destructive creation, the Vision, against his "father," Hank Pym, for abandoning him. Check it out as Wiccan and Speed's papa-dukes throws down with Earth's Mightest!
AVENGERS #195
Kids have always argued that they'll never be like their parents, but few take it in the direction Cassie Lang, the Young Avengers' Stature, has. This young hero with the power to increase her mass to towering sizes is the daughter of the shrinking Avenger Ant-Man, Scott Lang. Check out Scott's very first mission as an Avenger as he battles the Taskmaster in this classic tale by David Michelinie and Geroge Perez!
As I was wondering as it was posted in the Wizard Magazine, that Jessica Biel was to be the new TV series Scarlet Witch, I wondered if anyone had heard any knowledge on it. No professional links on... Why did not Miss Biel play, "Spider Woman"?
If she is the same jessica is she just mad at the "Scarlet Witch"?
Out of character links?
Who knows, thought to post.
