Every week, we'll tap one creator to browse Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited and pick their favorite issue they've worked on from the expansive catalog. This week: writer Frank Tieri.
"CIVIL WAR: WAR CRIMES remains a personal favorite of mine to this day and one of the projects I probably get most complimented about—from both fans and fellow creators alike. The story is essentially a 'chess match' between
Iron Man and the
Kingpin, with
Hammerhead sort of thrown in there as the wild card.
"I think what a lot readers appreciated most about the book was that, like the
Civil War event itself, there's a great complexity to it. It's a very 'shades of grey' story and virtually no character comes out of it without getting their hands dirty—not even, believe it or not, Captain America. By story's end we see how all these moving pieces come together and learn why the Kingpin, no matter what the situation, should always be considered one of the most dangerous men in the Marvel Universe."
