Every week, we'll tap one creator to browse Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited and pick some of their favorite work from the expansive catalog. This time around: Todd Nauck, artist of AMERICAN DREAM, first issue shipping this week.
"I really enjoyed drawing the
Sandman arc in FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #17-19. It was great to have
Spider-Man and
Sandman team-up as hero and villain to rescue Sandman's dad from being wrongfully executed on death row.
"I liked drawing Spider-Man's black costume. I started reading comics right when he got it in SECRET WARS #8. So it holds some sentimental value to me. Sandman was a lot of fun to draw with his morphing abilities and sandy texture.
"I appreciated that these stories really allowed Spider-Man's supporting cast to shine.
Flash Thompson and
Betty Brant's date really stands out in my mind from issue #18. We also got to set up some things to wrap up the whole 'The Other'
storyline in our next arc #20-22.
"My run on FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN is definitely a career highlight."
