Marvel's therapist assesses just how far gone the latest member of the Goblin family is

It should be noted that this analysis was done at the request of Harry Osborn and without the subject's permission or awareness. Therefore, all assessments are derived from secondhand accounts and limited naturalistic observation performed by this writer and staff.

Lily Hollister is a young adult female who appears to be of above average physical fitness. As Menace, her alter ego, she takes on a monstrous appearance that would be construed through observation as masculine. She is significantly taller and wider of frame and has demonstrated strength above and beyond that of herself as Hollister. In personal interactions, she presents as friendly and pleasant, if a bit disinterested in matters more complicated than parties and fashion. It is difficult to discern how "different" the subject's personality as Menace truly is and how much of it is a show. In any case, as Menace she presents as significantly more aggressive and attracted to acts of terrorism, particularly when it comes to her father. However, it is clear from the testimony of others and her own actions that she is deeply invested in her father's candidacy. This is evidenced by things she has done as Hollister, such as ordering polls be conducted, and as Menace, with the revelation that her attacks were meant to drum up sympathy support for her father's campaign.

As a child, the subject consistently fell short of her father's expectations. Her average to above average intellect failed to impress him and he often compared her, unfavorably, to her best friend Carlie Cooper. While it seems that sometime after high school, her father made peace with his daughter's strengths and weaknesses, the damage to the subject's psyche had already been done. She sought her father's attention and, knowing that she'd be unable to gain it through positive means like demonstrations of intellect, she often settled for acts that would disappoint her father. This most recently was seen by her choosing Harry Osborn as her significant other, an act that was met with a less than enthusiastic response within the Hollister household. If we consider her actions as Menace in this light, they are attempts to do right by a father she loves and acts of rage against a parent who refused to ever treat her as special. Menace, in many ways, is a wish fulfilled for Lily, allowing her to behave in a way that satisfies her disparate drives when it comes to her father.

The subject has also displayed signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Antisocial Personality disorder since the emergence of the Menace personality, particularly exhibited by her indifference to her involvement in the death of a city councilwoman and her denial of responsibility for those actions.

The writer, however, is not prepared to pin her recent behaviors and exhibits of personality on family history alone. While it is the opinion of this writer that the family history has no doubt shaped these actions, the origin of them lies with her exposure to an experimental "Goblin" serum. Much as both Harry Osborn and his father Norman Osborn experienced psychosis while using the serum, so too is Hollister. Thus, much like a drug addict who is exhibiting signs of mental illness we must begin at a diagnosis of substance induced psychotic disorder. The first step in dealing with this disorder is to get the subject off of the substance in question. Then, after a period of abstinence, staff will be able to get a feel for the subject's baseline and make a more nuanced diagnosis. Best case scenario is that the serum has induced this state in the subject and when she discontinues its use, she will return to a state of psychological well-being, in much the same way it appears Harry Osborn has. Worst case scenario is that it has either so altered her brain chemistry that there is no turning back or that the serum's use has simply coincided with the development of psychotic symptoms from another psychological disease, as was the case with Norman Osborn. Until such time as her baseline can be assessed, it will remain unclear.

Harry Osborn is currently attempting to convince Lily Hollister to attend an appointment on March 18 with Doctors Marc Guggenheim and John Romita Jr. Any information about the session can be found in file AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #588.

Tim Stevens is a Mental Health Supervisor currently pursuing his Psy D who has experience in dealing with individuals with personality disorders and substance induced psychological diagnoses.
