Unlimited Highlights: Shi'Ar Empire Prepare for the cosmic battle in War of Kings by reliving the greatest escapades of the Shi’Ar Empire
Posted: 2009-03-04 Updated: 2009-03-09 11:08:53 Every week we'll pick a handful of awesome comics from the thousands available through Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited. From creator spotlights to editor's picks and more, this'll be your spot to find something new and cool.
As Marvel's cosmic empires clash in the War of Kings saga, we highlight five digital comics centering on the youngest of the three empires: the Shi'Ar. Unstable living defines the history of the Shi'Ar, not only through shaky relations with the neighboring Skrull and Kree empires but with the tumultuous governing of the royal family, constantly in turmoil over Princess Lilandra's undying love for Charles Xavier. by Chris Bramante
UNCANNY X-MEN #107
When you're an X-Man, no off-world trip would be complete unless the team launches an assault on the planet's natives. Amidst the madness of the Phoenix Saga, legendary X-Scribe Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum introduced us to the Avian-evolved Shi'Ar species. Whisked to the Shi'Ar Homeworld by uncontrollable outbursts of Phoenix's power, Xavier's mutants fight to rescue the Princess Lilandra from her evil brother D'Ken before he feeds her to the Soul Drinker beast in order to cover his quest for ultimate power.
CLASSIC X-MEN #14
It's another day, another treason in the Shi'Ar Empire. Princess Lilandra can't seem to catch a break from her brother, Emperor D'Ken, who has gone mad with power in his hunt for the M'Kraan Crystal. Fleeing for her life, Lilandra's overcome with visions of love for a man in a far off world called Earth and embarks on the journey to unite with her soulmate Charles Xavier.
UNCANNY X-MEN #277
Master artist Jim Lee lays his pencils into a Chris Claremont script that furthers the epic love story of Xavier and Lilandra as the War Skrulls infiltrate the X-Men and manipulate the mutants into a violent struggle that produces an action packed adventure. In a galactic battle where Wolverine is blamed for Xavier's death, the Starjammers seek vengeance for the Professor's life, leading to a showdown that pits X-Man and X-Man.
MAXIMUM SECURITY #1
An intergalactic council comes to the conclusion that Earth poses a danger to the galaxy and must not only be quarantined but transformed into a prison planet for the scum of the universe. The Avengers find their hands full as alien threats envelop the Earth but with USAgent in charge of planetary defenses, things don't look too great for humankind in an event that will change Lilandra's relationship with Earth forever.
UNCANNY X-MEN #475
Adjusting to his loss of telepathy and regaining the use of his legs, Charles Xavier must lead the X-Men to save the Shi'Ar Empire from Vulcan's lust for vengeance! Xavier's marriage to Lilandra may have been annulled, but that didn't destroy the love in Xavier's heart as he hops into interplanetary action to stop Vulcan. The X-Men stand divided and thus begins "The Rise and Fall of the Shi'Ar Empire."
