Jason Aaron just can't get enough of Wolverine.
The fan-favorite writer along with artist Ron Garney, the team behind last year's hit "Get Mystique!" arc from WOLVERINE, send the X-Men's resident berserker tearing into an all-new ongoing series with WOLVERINE: WEAPON X #1 on April 8.
The series begins with the five-part "Adamantium Men," a story that sees Wolverine go up against the Roxxon corporation as they attempt to duplicate what the Weapon X program accomplished with Logan. But Wolvie doesn't much like the prospect of an army of ruthless, adamantium-clawed mercenaries.
"Well, on the most simple of levels, it makes for a kick-ass fight," explains Aaron of his decision to place Wolverine against a group armed with similar weapons to his own. "Beyond that, we'll see how Logan reacts when he comes face-to-face with his own worst aspects. Can he save one of these guys, like he himself was saved? He's certainly going to try."
In the past, readers have seen the United States and Canadian governments attempt to either duplicate or continue the work done with Wolverine, but now Aaron has given the corporations their time in the spotlight.

"Military contractors have been in the news a lot the last few years, so it seemed like a natural progression," the writer notes. "And of course all Roxxon cares about is making a quick buck, no matter who gets hurt in the process."
Though Wolverine hasn't had much of a supporting cast beyond his teammates in recent years, Aaron will introduce number of new characters in WEAPON X, including a new potential love interest for Logan.
"It seemed like a good time to bring that back," reasons Aaron of Wolverine's new friends and possible lovers. "And since I'm looking to do arcs that are relatively stand-alone, having some recurring characters helps to give the whole series a spine.
"I'll have a lot more room to focus on supporting characters and to establish new villains, which I didn't always have before. Logan will always be that rock at the center of the series, but now I'll be able to come up with a lot more craziness to throw in his direction."
Aaron also promises that he'll follow up on threads from his previous Wolverine stories in the current series.
"Yes, we'll definitely be addressing events from the end of my WOLVERINE: MANIFEST DESTINY limited series and showing how Logan handles his new role as leader of the

Chinatown underworld," the writer vows. "You won't see that initially, but it is in the plans for the series."
Leaving off, Aaron reveals that WOLVERINE: WEAPON X will put Logan through the wringer like no series has before.
"This series is going to show us Wolverine at his darkest and also most human, at his most violent and most vulnerable. And it's going to take him places he's rarely gone before, everywhere from the deepest, darkest corners of outer space to the deepest, darkest corners of his own troubled mind. Also, there'll be all manner of stabbing."
