Deadpool better watch his back, because these days he's got a whole lot of people looking to bring him in for good.

The Merc With a Mouth spreads his particular style of insanity throughout the rest of the Marvel Universe on April 1 with both DEADPOOL: SUICIDE KINGS #1 and DEADPOOL #9, bringing him up against the likes of Spider-Man, the Punisher, the Thunderbolts and more!

For Mike Benson, writer of the five-issue SUICIDE KINGS limited series, bringing Wade Wilson into contact with some of the Marvel Universe's more colorful heroes presented a number of new opportunities to explore the mercenary's personality.

"These are characters Deadpool typically doesn't interact with," Benson notes. "So it was a unique opportunity to pit them against each other. On top of that, it was a chance to really see what the Merc With a Mouth was really made of."

Spider-Man, Daredevil and Punisher all gain an interest in Deadpool's affairs after someone frames him for a crime, but just what Wilson supposedly did, Benson won't say.

"I won't say exactly what the crime is other than it was heinous and attracted a lot of unwanted attention," the writer teases. "And [as for] why [I chose] these characters, well, for me, anytime I can use the

Punisher in one of my scripts, I'll jump at the opportunity. Daredevil is a character I always wanted to write and in the way the story unfolds, fits right into the equation. And as far as Spidey—well, he's Spidey, who doesn't want their shot at writing him. Not to mention, the amount of barbs going back and forth [between him and Deadpool], how can you resist? Not to mention, this is a crazy, manic story that each character plays a very specific role in the telling of it. I'll leave it at that."

Despite the back and forth of Spider-Man and Deadpool, Benson confesses that he actually had the most fun writing Wade's interaction with another of the heroes.

"Each character has their own special charm," Benson insists. "In the way the story unfolds, I'll have to go with the Punisher [as my favorite to write]. He is a continuous force through out the arc. But again, it's a very close call."

Over in his regular ongoing series, Deadpool continues to contend with Norman Osborn's Thunderbolts in part three of the "Magnum Opus" crossover, and unfortunately for him the inner voices that usually guide his decision-making have abandoned him. However, according to writer Daniel Way, that shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

"Well, it's not like it'll be the first time Deadpool's jumped into a fight without thinking," Way muses.

Even though the Thunderbolts have set out to kill Deadpool, the team's current roster

seems like one he'd have no trouble fitting into. On the other hand, Way doesn't think Wade would fit in too well with any team.

"While I think Deadpool would love to be invited into a team, who would want him?" the writer poses. "The problem with bringing Deadpool in is that his utterly chaotic nature makes him just as much a threat to his teammates as he is to his enemies."

Finally, both Benson and Way gave their two cents on which Marvel characters would have the best chance of taking Deadpool down for the count.

"There are plenty who could, but the real question is, 'How far are they willing to go to do it?'" Way contends. "Taking Deadpool down isn't something that can be done quickly, cleanly, or without significant scarring of the psyche. The collateral damage and fallout alone would be enough to discourage most heroes, and villains? Well, it's not like they turned to a life of crime because they liked hard work."

Benson, on the other hand, had a considerably different response:

"Galactus. Definitely Galactus."
