The Youth Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has released their Best of 2007 lists and
Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. and
Runaways were both named among the 2007 Top Ten Great Graphic Novels for Teens.
Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. writer Warren Ellis was happy to learn of the title's recognition by YALSA. "I do it all for the children," says Ellis. In keeping with the off-beat humor of his book, Ellis added, "It is good to know that the young people of today are ready and waiting for me to form a Church."
Brian K. Vaughan was also THRILLED to hear that Digests Volumes 4-6 (RUNAWAYS VOL 2 HC) of his Runaways series were named to YALSA's Top 10 of 2007.
"Appearing on such a prestigious list is a tremendous honor, so thanks very much to everyone at YALSA."
"If libraries had been cool enough to carry graphic novels when I was a kid, I never would have had to turn to petty crime to afford my expensive comics habit," kidded Vaughan.
This year's honor follows Runaways Vol.1 HC being named to YALSA's Best Books for Young Adults list in 2006.
