To commemorate the X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT one-shot hitting shelves today, we're shining the spotlight on some awesome issues featuring the Ragin' Cajun Remy Lebau, aka Gambit. They're all available from Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited right now. By Ben Chabala
UNCANNY X-MEN #277
Who doesn't love it when Remy and Logan duke it out? Exploding cards and dashing good looks versus adamantium claws and a healing factor make some crazy fights. Even better, this time it's in outer space! Teaming up with Deathbird and Lila Cheney to save Professor Xavier, Gambit and his fellow X-Men must take on the Starjammers and...other X-Men? The plot thickens, the X-Men battle and Remy kicks some serious intergalactic tush in this issue.
GAMBIT AND THE X-TERNALS #1
While the world may have changed for the worse Professor Xavier's death ushered in the Age of Apocalypse, our favorite card-tossing mutant remains much the same. Gambit continues to pine over Rogue (a fruitless endeavor even in this reality), he's still a thief and he retains his good looks and captivating personality. It's not all the same, though. Gambit is the Age of Apocalypse's Robin Hood, and his X-Ternals ( Sunspot, Lila Cheney, Jubilee, Strong Guy) are its Merry Men. Now the X-Ternals have been tasked with the ultimate robbery—stealing the M'Krann Crystal—a job that could very well bring an end to the Age of Apocalypse once and for all. Are they up to the challenge. Read the issue to find out!
X-TREME X-MEN #8
It's a silent chase through Australia with our favorite Cajun on the run! As usual, Gambit has made enemies of the wrong folks, in this case the criminal element of the Land Down Under. He needs some big-time help from old lover Rogue and her team of X-Men, but first he'll have to make his way across the city of Sydney with some major baddies on his tail! This dialogue free 'Nuff Said issue comes your way courtesy of legendary writer Chris Claremont and X-Men artist supreme Salvador Larroca!
GAMBIT #1 (2004)
Even Gambit needs some R&R now and then, and the Ragin' Cajun dips back to the Big Easy for his vacations. But Gambit wouldn't be Gambit if everything went as planned—or everything was exactly as it seemed. He may look like he's home taking a breather, but Remy's also there to partake in two of his favorite pastimes: getting acquainted with a pretty girl and pulling an awesome heist. Though the job is to simply steal a deck of cards, Gambit's not the only thief on the prowl. Remy may have to use more than his charm to pull this one off. A lot more.
X-MEN: LEGACY #213
No matter how much time passes or how far Gambit runs, it seems like he'll never be able to escape Mr. Sinister's shadow. But out in the middle of nowhere, trying to protect Professor Xavier from a cleaning crew ready to kill, he makes an unlikely alliance that will hopefully rid him of Mr. Sinister's stain forever. With whom, you ask? Why none other than Sebastian Shaw, leader of the Hellfire Club! While neither the Ragin' Cajun nor the White King know exactly what's in store for them, you can bet if Mr. Sinister's involved it can't be good.
