Colonel Nicholas Fury is an adult male who appears to be of above average physical fitness. One would estimate his age to be early middle age, but, the client is, in fact, significantly older. Due to exposure to a chemical called the Infinity Formula, Colonel Fury has retarded his physical aging to an incredible degree.

Cognitive testing and fMRI screenings reveal that the Formula has also, most likely, limited the ravages of time on the client's mind as well. He demonstrates no signs of senility or even basic memory loss issues that are associated with individuals of his age. The Formula also appears to have had no adverse effects as the client demonstrates none of the physiological, psychological or emotional symptoms associated with drug addiction.

The client arrived at this writer's office unannounced and requested an appointment because of what he described as "concerns stemming from recent revelations."

In session, the client presented as gruff, but open to communication. He admitted that someone of his age and profession did not "put much stock" into therapy, typically. However, he also conceded that he had seen too many people engage in armed conflict in the wrong state of mind. These people often got themselves or, worse, others killed because of this. Given recent events in his life, he was concerned that he was heading down a similar track and wanted to be "checked out" to ensure that this was not the case.

Colonel Fury went on to detail how he had recently discovered something quite significant about his past. An endeavor he had spent a good portion of his life on, he explained, had been revealed to him to be something very different than he had been led to believe. He refused to be more specific on this matter, claiming that to do so could very well endanger the writer. Additionally, he added, that I was unlikely to understand the scenario in the first place given all the players and machinations involved.

He expressed concern that this revelation, on the heels of such events as his exile following a "Secret War" he had engaged in and the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D. by Norman Osborn, had left him raw and prone to overreaction. While he had no issue with his own death by following the plan he was considering, he did not feel comfortable leading others who may be hurt or injured until he knew he was in a right state of mind.

The writer explained to Colonel Fury that assessments could often take several sessions before being accurate, especially given his hesitance to disclose the exact nature of his current crisis. The client questioned this and, after much discussion, proclaimed the process "worse than government bureaucracy." He also objected to the term crisis, explaining that he had seen crises and that the writer clearly had no idea what constituted a crisis.

Eventually, the client succeeded in persuading this writer to at least disclose the initial impressions. The writer explained to Colonel Fury that he appeared to be angry and disinterested in collaborative experiences. However, the client did also present as rational, capable of introspection, and respectful of the rights of others. While the writer still insisted that further sessions were necessary for a true evaluation of the client's motives and mindset, he disclosed to Colonel Fury that, at this juncture, the client did seem in control enough to make intelligent decisions in the field and that he would not unduly endanger his subordinates.

The client reciprocated this show of faith in him by agreeing to a follow-up appointment, although he would not contract to delay his current combat related plans.

Colonel Nicholas Fury's follow-up is set for July 29 with Doctors Jonathan Hickman, Brian Michael Bendis, and Stefano Caselli. Further information on the Colonel is available for review in file SECRET WARRIORS #6.

Tim Stevens is a Mental Health Supervisor currently pursuing his Psy D.
