As the noted philosopher M.C. Hammer once proclaimed, "It's hammer time," True Believers! The Mighty Thor's headed for TV screens everywhere, courtesy of Marvel Animation! Marvel Animation took the industry by storm as it debuted its all-new animated TV shows in its first-ever appearance at MIPCOM—the global content event for creating, co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content across all platforms. Now Marvel Animation is expanding its slate of offerings with 26 action-packed half-hour episodes of an all-new animated television series based on Thor. The Thor series will be self-produced by Marvel and is scheduled to launch fall 2010 following Marvel's live-action "Thor" feature film in summer of 2010. The Thor animated series is an all new-property featuring one of Marvel's longtime favorite characters: the heroic thunder god of Norse mythology. The animated series will follow Thor as he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants. The show takes place in various wondrous worlds: from mountainous landscapes to places of icy mists and fiery voids. Thor will be surrounded by many companions on his mission, every one sure to add to the action and adventure of this series. "The Thor animated series continues Marvel's strategic plan to follow each of our tent pole feature films with an animated series and will offer a continued awareness in the marketplace for this exciting new franchise," said Eric Rollman, Marvel's President of Animation. "Through animation we can openly explore and tell the rich stories which are unique to the worlds of Thor." But you don't have to wait until 2010 for new Marvel animation, Marvelites! Coming in 2009, Marvel brings its iconic heroes Wolverine and Iron Man to television in two brand-new animated series airing on Nicktoons. The two shows, "Wolverine and the X-Men" (a co-production with Toonz Entertainment Pte Ltd., Singapore and First Serve International Ltd.) and "Iron Man Armored Adventures" (a co-production with France based Method Films) will each feature 26 action-packed, half-hour episodes that follow the respective heroes through dynamic action, adventure and drama as they face foes both familiar and new to their fans. Marvel Animation has also partnered with BET Networks to produce an animated series based on the legendary Marvel hero, the Black Panther. The all-new "Black Panther Animated Series" is slated to premiere on BET Networks in the summer of 2009. In fall of 2009, Marvel will premiere its self-produced all-new "Marvel Super Hero Squad" animated series, an action-packed show featuring super-stylized versions of its most popular characters including Captain America, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Wolverine and Iron Man. The series features the great heroic story telling Marvel is known for and adds a touch of comedy to the mix. Following Marvel's live-action feature film release, "Avengers," in the summer of 2011, Marvel will premiere its self-produced "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" in the fall of 2011 showcasing the best of the best in the Marvel Universe in 26 episodes of an all-new animated series. Why is there not any concept art, screenshots or behind the scenes information on this animated Thor program under the "Movies & TV" section of Marvel.com?This new series sounds great but all I found on Marvel.com was information on "Marvel Super Hero Squad" and Iron Man Armored Adventures. Where is Thor?

Well folks you can look for Thor and all other Marvel properties on DisneyXD from now on. But if this is anything like Hulk vs. Thor is should be pretty freaking sweet.

Will the animation in this new series look like that of Hulk vs Thor? Because if it does I'm sure to watch this new series. BTW will Marvel show some new footage and concept art of this new 2010 Thor animated program at Comic Con? And will this program also air on Cartoon Network?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpJ-RtKFCFY

I remember that back in the 1970's there was old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon and I think this new Thor toon might be a cross between this and LOTR.Hopefully Marvel can create an animate series based on the new game Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes the animation scenes in the game look incredible.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wccV45fsoJI

And if someone else has the rights to them, then someone could beat those people over the head until they realize that they can make money. And isn't that what it is all about?

I'm all for this cartoon as long as it's made using the same animation that the movie Hulk vs Thor was with. I also think animators from Teen Titans and Atlantis The Lost Empire should be included.I am a big fan the new Wolverine and the X-Men as well. I'm not in on the Iron Man program. It's to arcade 3D looking. I appreciate the family friendlyness of it in dropping the whole playboy thing.I sure hope this Thor animated program will air on Nickeolodeon so as to replace Avatar: The Last Airbender seeing as Avatar is over. If not Nickelodon then perhaps Cartoon Network's Toonami.I actually think Toonami might be a good idea. Thor The Animated Series might just fit in fine along side Star Wars: The CLoen WArs

[quote@apollo124 I've been reading Thor since I snuck into my dad's old Journey Into Mystery stash. I'm absolutely drooling waiting on the upcoming Hulk vs. Thor dvd coming out in January, I think. If this animated series comes across with similar animation to what I've seen in the previews of H v T, I'll be a steady watcher. Hell, I'll probably buy the dvd when it comes out even if I don't miss an episode. :thor:
I agree, if it's anything like I've seen out of Hulk Vs. Thor, I'm in. I just hope that they don't over saturate the market with these shows and movies to the point where it goes the way of 80's hair metal. Good when it started, then just got sickening.

Super Hero Squad, Wolverine and the X-Men and Thor The Animated Series. We've got a lot of great shows to look forward to with the exception of that Iron Man Armoured Adventures.

[quote@steve_swv Thor cartoon produced by blah blah and blahWolverine and X-men supported by blah blah and Black Panter partnered with BETCOME ON!Who Cares!!! Seriously who the hell cares that the black panther is black? Certainly not the people watching BET. Maybe Jubilee should have her own show because she is Chinese and the Asian network can pick it up. Tell me why does BET all of a sudden give a crap about superheroes?!?! and cartoon ones at that? Are there not enough rap videos and episodes of Hangin' with mister Cooper to fill the time slots. This is total bull**** because guess what, white people like black panther too...I know what your thinking...shouldn't they automatically hate him because of his skin color? Guess what, it's 2008 a black man is about to be president of the US and the only channel on television that descriminates based on the color of the people on the shows is BET!!!Give me a break, this is so racist, lets face it...it's just going to fail because no one is going to watch it and its going to end up on the Toon Network reruns just like every other burned out cartoon.
:hawkeye: i agree on the racist issue i dont know why there are a spcial etnicithy channels like bet, mtv jams or Univision we are a single wolrd and we sholud be a single society thats what comics have tought me no man is different we are all the same

:hawkeye: the best part of this is tht there will be a breaking of that circle where it semmend thtat the only hereoes worthy of animation where spiderman , xmen , fantastic four, iron man and the hulk, there never was any chance to see a re interpretation of the animated series of the Avengers or Silver Surfer From the 90´s or Captain America and Namor from the 60´si rreally hope this oppnes a new door for new animated features like Thor vs Hulk, where we can see old heroes updated like ant man , black pantheriron fist sahng chi or the invaders

I'd like to see a non-animated Thor movie. Alexander Skarsgård would be a great candidate.

I'm happy that Thor's getting a cartoon, he's a cool character that doesn't get enough attention in my opinion. Speaking of which- GIVE DEADPOOL A CARTOON!

[quote:a18dd9cb3c="bob smash!"]please dont let this go like iron man. who's idea was it to have a teenage tony stark, anyway? the film made 300 million with an adult tony so why should they change it for the tv show? kids are probably gonna think "it's not like the movie, which was awesome, so i'm not gonna watch it". sorry for the rant.
I agree with you. The established that Iron Man came to be once Tony was an adult. With all the kids that saw the movie, they will think why he is Iron Man when a teenager. Plain stupid IMO.

:x-men: :thor: Wolvverine is going to be awsome. Iron Man and Superhero Squad will be dispicably, mutinously horrible. Thor, Avengers and Black Banther could go either way.

[quote@hellblazer2314 I'm Loving what you guys have planed although it sounds like Thor won't be battling any Marvel villains until the Avengers cartoon in 2011. Aside from that I have no complaints but please tell us what channels Thor, the Avengers, and Marvel Super Hero Squad will be on.
Not gonna be until 2010, you have plenty of time to get ur answer, its not like it's on tomorrow.

As long as they don't muck it up like the upcoming Iron Man (having a teenage Tony Stark) I'll be a very happy camper.
