I would like to believe that I speak for all true marvel comics fanatics,we are all about visualization and graphic realization when it comes to bringing our marvel characters to the big screen.First off in every cartoon and comic of our beloved Cap'n, he is literally larger than life. His height, his build his stature it is meant to instill shock and awe especially in those that don't know of him.How the hell can hollywood &*@!%& this up so much?I am very dissapointed to see that they have totally left out the graphic visiualiazation part.Your trying to tell me they couldnt find anybody that is at least 6'4 and 250 lbs to play Cap?What the ****?This guy looks like he cant even bench 70 lbs.I hop they don't !#@%$!@ up the movie and have this clown running around looking like Cap is on crack!Where the !&*%@#&@ are his muscles?I hope the movie does not flop.Where the hell is Stan Lee?He usually is the main consultant concerning the movie. They better not !%&!@&! it up!!!!

for all those confused, the marvel movie universe is split in 2. one part belongs to marvel studios (spiderman, hulk, iron man, thor captain america, avengers) and the other to 20th Century fox (x-men, daredevil, elektra, fantastic four, wolverine). so chris evans still can play captain america (although i do agree that an actor sgould play just one superhero and live with it).

i thought i was the only one who bitched about that (thank god people have a sense), and FF is getting redone? thats $@&!$*&* stupid. There is only 4325872 marvel characters. instead of making something new lets remake every movie every 4 years! so stupid, but all in all he'll probably do a good job as cap. He did a good job as the torch (still dumb that he plays both even if they are remaking FF).

Wow! He actually looks like Captain America!

Exactly! I am excited about the movie, but no one should have been allowed to play two Marvel characters. Kills the opportunity for cross-overs in the future too.

Chris Evans as Captain America: Awsome! Cap's clothes in the movie: Very bad. But the shield is cool.

Evans shouldnt be Cap, HES HUMAN TORCH WHY PLAY 2 DIFF MARVEL HEROS,would be better if it was somebody else

I agree though that Evans will make a really good and fun Cap. The pics we have seen of him in the white t-shirt, he does look like Steve Rogers. And most of the Thor cast seems to be inspired. Thor has been my hero for almost 40 years.

I thought spiderman 2 was the best of the modern marvel movies. But they never fail to screw something up. I couldn't believe how easily they managed to screw up wolverine from deadpool to the blob. hollywood is so ego driven that they can't just use the comics as the sole source for inspiration. I mean, why can't the hulk be born of a gamma bomb in the desert in at least one movie adaptation? They just can't stand to let us have the stories we buy the dang books for in the first place. Joe Johnston even made a comment about making sure captain america wasn't too red white and blue flag waving in your face. That really pissed me off, he's CAPTAIN AMERICA for crying out loud. Its like they have to appologize for being american like they did with GI Joe. That movie was an insult. maybe its just me.

I understand your frustration sbmccloud when it comes to marvel comics in the movies. I have to agree with you that some of the movies have been crap. The Iron Man movies to me have been great. As far as the rating goes, not all marvel movies should be R rated. If you look at majority of the comics marvel puts out, most are directed to the range from kids to young adults. If they just made everything R, they would not be holding true to the comics.

I think this is going to be fantastic! The Rocketeer is one of my favorite movies of all times, if this is anything like that (which it appears to be) I will have no problems with this film. Note to all those who say Chris Evans can't play a serious role, go online and to your local Blockbuster and dig up some of his independent stuff, Chris Evans is HIGHLY under rated as an actor in streamlined cinema. Simply because he plays the cocky, comic character well, does not, by any means, mean that he is incapable of pulling this role off. He has put on a lot of weight and is obviously doing his part for the role, and seeing his dedication should only brings our hopes up. Also, to echo some of the others, it's true, Chris Evans will not be playing the part of Johnny Storm in the FF reboot. A side note to all of those who don't want Marvel movies to be made, I feel the need to remind you that when the initial rights of X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, and Namor franchises were sold in the late '90's that Marvel was on the brink of the bankruptcy. Had they not sold those rights we would no longer have Marvel comics. The movies brought back the comics in a big way and is now thriving better than ever...so if you like comics, quit complaining about the movies.

@sbmccloud: Your opinion on the live action movies has a few points like they do great with the cartoons and there has been some epic fails (emo Peter Parker) but I have do disagree about what you said about the live action moives. I mean there are story lines in the comics there are in different universes (2099,ultimates,reborn) and the movies have there own universe. Plus I believe the movies exspose a new generation to what true comic book fans from the 80's and the 90's (like us) love to help generate sales to keep all of our favorite books and characters going. Plus if you created a character and people wanted to pay you to make a movie about him would you really pass on getting paid. As for Chris Evans I say he has proved himself in other movies so outside of Marvel characters so he deserves a chance.

First, to everyone saying that he was already Human Torch, odds are he will not be playing him again. With Marvel now being owned by Disney, it's a fair bet that they will buy back the movie rights from Fox much like they did with Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Avengers from Paramount.X-Men: First Class isn't a reboot, it's a prequel. X3 left a clear indication that there could be sequels. Although, considering how god-awful X2 and 3 were, I would welcome a reboot anyway. Spider-Man 4, though, is most definitely a reboot, and I welcome it. Spidey 1 was decent. I never except too much from the first film in a series because it's main purpose is to establish the status quo. However 2 & 3 were relentlessly bad. It seemed Raimi had a hard on for turning each of Spidey's villains into tragic figures. Except for Venom, who got thrown in at the last minute (literally: Raimi was against using Venom and only did so because Sony demanded he put him in there). As for Cap's shield in the pic, it's not damaged. The paint has been scorched off.And to the cry baby ranting about too many Marvel films, suck it up. The film industry has been making adaptions since the creation of the craft. And last time I checked, a printed story wasn't animated.

seriously...i'm a big fan of Evans. but why must we recycle an actor to the point of overexposure. i'm sure there were many more actors out there who could fill capt.americas' shoes just as well if not better than evans. i feel sorry for marvel that they think they need him to headline this character. it lets people know that they don't have the confidence to present these characters as they've been created...over the last couple of decades. shame on you marvel. i believe in you characters...you should also. make mine marvel. for now.

I really look forward to seeing Chris Evans as Captain America. But I thought he was better off playing the Human Torch. He's just too cocky to play a serious character in a movie.

Conversely, I happen to think this looks astounding. I actually went to college and got to work on a show with the gentleman playing Bucky. And for those of you whom are unaware...FF is also getting a restart, so Chris is not Cap AND The Human Torch.

I still think they could of cast some one else besides him he was already a character in another marvel movie.

I think Chris Evans is ok, he's kinda cocky as an actor/person it seems and I'm not sure if that will be befitting to such a world-class hero. Captain America/Steve Rogers is a humble yet strong willed guy. I think Chris was the perfect Human Torch for the Fantastic Four. I'm thinking he may have gallavanted into a role that may be TOO BIG for him. Captain America cannot be screwed up and I don't want to see Marvel trying to redo this role over and over again because he screws it up. Ala, The Punisher. This has too be done right the first time around! Then again, I could be wrong, I felt the same way about Robert Downey, Jr. I thought... no way in hell can Downey be Tony Stark/Iron Man. Now... when I see Robert... all I see is the embodiment of Stark/Iron Man done pefectly. So hopefully, I'm wrong and Evans will pull it off... He is afterall The First Avenger.

They are taking creativity away from you and you don't even realize it. I still read old and new comic books, learning new words and definitions each time i read an issue while still enjoying the suspense it gives (old issues). Reading is good for the brain. The generations here on out will be American grown zombies plugged into the matrix at all times. Digital comics that read the story to you, movies, video games. Dumbing you down so your creative ability is limited. Instead of making movies and ridiculous games to capitalize on markets and monopolizing they should be creating better and deeper stories for these titles they have. Comics today aren't the same as they were in the past. New generation of writers are dumbed down, not that creative. Animation is fine, but you don't have to turn everything that is a good animated thing into a movie. Look at all the reboots they have done on movies. They just finished the x-men movie saga 4 or 5 years ago and now there doing it over again, same with spider man.

WondeRINGnotlost
WondeRINGnotlost

They're so not all the same story lines. Your missing the uniqueness of each Superhero or Mutant. By making them into live action movies, not only is Marvel making loads of money but they're exposing the characters to a wider audience like planting the seed for a new generation of comic book fans.

thehulkster94

well, the look isn't quite how I would want it, but it isn't too bad, with a good writer, the casting choice could work out fine.

I still think they should have made him bleach his hair. for both this and the FF movies. I like having character continuity.
