In honor of "Thor Month," we’re highlighting some of his most astounding exploits and enemies to prepare you for the flick. This time around we just wanted to show you Thor doing what he does best: smiting. From family members to fire demons, all shall get a taste of his thunder!

JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY ANNUAL #1

Prepare thyself for a battle of absolutely epic proportions! While questing for adventure, Thor and his sniveling sibling Loki happen upon a duo of dimwitted Storm Giants searching for the lost entrance to Olympus. Verily the Odinson throws himself at the titans, mighty Mjolnir in hand, ready and raring to get his smite on! But clouded by his lust for battle the golden Asgardian accidentally topples into the mystical portal himself. Thor lands in Olympus where he meets Hercules, the Prince of Power, and the two throw down in a battle that will shake the very firmament!

THOR #154

Ulik the Troll, eternal enemy of the Aesir, attempts to revenge himself on the Asgardians by releasing an unknown entity from the Cave of Eternity. Little does the simple villain know that inside of the inescapable confines of Odin’s cave, held fast by spells and enchanted iron, lies Mangog, the last surviving member of a race of alien invaders. Now the terrifying creature stalks the world once more, furiously eager to tear down the very walls of Asgard itself! Do Thor and his mighty hammer Mjolnir stand a chance against the malevolent Mangog, or does Ragnarok loom nigh?

THOR #338

Beta-Ray Bill comes from a galaxy far far away, an alien warrior pure of heart and soul and every bit the equal of Thor. So equal, in fact, that Bill actually manages to lift Mjolnir, the Thunderer’s mystic hammer! Proving himself worthy and in need of a way to save his dying race, Beta-Ray Bill challenges Thor for his mallet, believing it to be just the weapon he needs to rescue his fellow Korbinites. Who will prove himself worthy of Mjolnir in the end? You'll have to read to find out!

THOR #353

Surtur, fire demon and walking magma storm of destruction, sees victory within his grasp. If he can just touch his shining sword Twilight to the Asgardian’s Eternal Flame, everything will end in Armageddon. But Thor stands against him, a gnat compared to the demon’s epic proportions, and Surtur mocks the Mighty Avenger’s seemingly futile resistance. Someone needs to remind Surtur that size isn’t everything, and the Odinson’s just the Aesir to do it. Flames fly and lightning flashes as these two mythical beings battle for all that is!

THOR #600

Released from his icy existence by the treacherous Loki, Thor’s grandfather Bor finds himself in Manhattan after thousands of years trapped as snowflakes in a blizzard. A spell cast by Loki clouds the elder Asgardian’s eyes, transforming Midgard and its denizens into a hellish landscape of fire and death, and in his rage he lashes out. Luckily Thor stands ready to face Bor and prevent any collateral damage to the skyline, but can the young warrior stop his elder? It will take everything the Odinson has and more to put down his grandfather, but what of the consequences?

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the epic adventure "Thor" spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

"Thor" is from a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller & Zack Stentz and Don Payne and a story by J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige will produce the film. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel and Marvel Studio’s Co-President, Louis D'Esposito, will executive produce.

In addition to "Thor," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Captain America: The First Avenger" on July 22, 2011; "Marvel Studios' The Avengers" on May 4, 2012; and "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013.
