If this short results in Kingsley somehow being bestowed with 10 alien rings and becoming the TRUE Mandarin, then I will be a happy camper.

I enjoyed the comedy of the twist in IM3, I just wish it hadn't been the Mandarin. Because Kingsley played a chilling, wonderful villain prior to that reveal that would have worked fine in the MCU without ruing the character or playing into any of the concerns of portraying the character in the first place.

Hopefully Trevor will still be funny... or has prison changed him?

ditto when glennbo216 said I enjoyed Ben Kingley as the Mandarin, up to the point that he was revealed to not be the Mandarin they had infinite potential with the real mandarin but no… with the real mandarin you have infinite potential, with the mandarin you could have connected the aliens with the ten rings and the taunting of the old man oh my god it could connect perfectly with the story but no they added in a plot twist, Kingley portrayed the mandarin amazingly, but all that talent went to waste. the only hope they have now is to make it so the twist was just a fake to distract iron man, and Kingley was really the mandarin all along, thus continuing the story.

I enjoyed Ben Kingley as the Mandarin, up to the point that he was revealed to not be the Mandarin.  Then the movie stunk.  Now, if this Marvel One-Shot can deliver what it hints at, then I'll forgive it.  And I enjoy the Thor movies.

frankly I didn't like that killian was the mandarin, the mandarin has almost always been that terrorist guy with the rings

I for was was disapointed with the mandarin storyline in ironman 3. Why cant the films stick to the comics. (Dont get me started on thor). The manadrin is a formiddable foE not some bumbling actor.

Maybe I'm looking forward to this. I don't know how I feel about Ben Kingsley in this roll. So normal and human-like.

@MarvelChick3422'Cause the movie studios in Hollywood are pushing for consumers to buy the higher priced products.

@glennbo216 In my opinion, it's a pretty weak argument to claim a movie "stank" just because of one plot point.  I for one really enjoyed the plot twist.  Why?  Because it genuinely took me by surprise.  In an age where spoilers are a dime a dozen, I applaud Disney and Marvel for keeping a creative decision like that under wraps.  I can understand the frustration over the Trevor Slattery situation, but I also think the MCU films should be allowed to be their own unique entities - separate from the comics we know and love.  Things are much more interesting that way.  If this one-shot is any indication, however, it will remedy the entire Mandarin situation, thus making everyone happy.

I mean crap, his rings arent even magic, they're alien tech, and with GOTG coming out this year IM3 should've played with that aspect of Mandarin's origin to introduce audience to the sci-fi space side of marvel.

i hate that marvel/disney feels they have to turn thor into stargate in order for general audience to get whats going on, even though they sat through 8 harry potter films and loved it judging by box office and audience response. but the whole mandarin plot really bummed me out. Thank god ironman 3 wasnt a screw up like spider man 3, at least the plot in IM3 was not a big cluster. but really they could not come with simple way to adapt the mandarin onto the silver screen?

@dreed88 @glennbo216 My thing with the plot twist was that it wasn't needed.  The Mandarin had a LOT of potential.  Heck, he destroyed Tony's home, which was something that Obadiah, Vanko, or Loki was able to do.  He hit Stark in ways that the other villains couldn't.  This was the fight that I've waited for ever since the first Iron Man movie (and I figure a lot of Iron Man fans were too).  While it's important to make films that hook everyone, it's even more important to remember that it is the fan-base that the movies are being made to begin with.  When the Mandarin was revealed to be some drug addicted actor, I almost left the theater.  I spent the rest of the movie thinking, ok, he's just faking it to get Stark to lower his guard.  But nope.  It was the kind of plot twist that ruins movies, just like if Avengers: Age of Ultron has Ultron turn out to be an old 1990's computer with someone else pulling the strings.
