why are you not offering a Blu-ray/DVD Combo ... I guess I won't buy it ... just rent it

NO UV...what a ripoff.....I will have to pay attention for future reference so that I don't feel so blatantly cheated...

I pre-ordered my copy from Disney; at the time the option for Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy was available for $29.95. When the order finally came (2 weeks after release date) I received only the Blu-ray version. Come to find out they didn't make the normal Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy pack. I don't really care about the Digital Copy since it doesn't work with Flixster, however I refuse to pay that much for just a Blu-ray...Sending mine back!!! Sucks because I love the Avengers movies! Think I will wait for a dirt cheap sale, like some of you posted you will do, or a re-release with the proper combo packaging!

It's bs that there is no blue ray/dvd combo pack...the 3D/blueray combo is redundant...plus no extras in the dvd version...quite catering to the priveledged.

I finally was able to register "Thor, the Dark World."  I went to Marvel's FAQ.  I clicked on the link given with the question, "Unable to redeem my digital copy," or something like that.  I was taken to digitalcopyplus.com, where I was able to redeem the code, it took me to an URL where I could register it via Disney or itunes, or if I scrolled down farther, with four or five other sites, including VUDU.com.

I hope this helps someone else, too.l

You think you're pissed because you cannot find the Blu-Ray Digital Copy pack, think of us who have the 3D Combo Pack with Digital HD Copy and we keep getting "404," page not here and "error" page, when we try to register at More.Marvel.com/Thor.  Talk about dropping the ball.  Marvel, don't make us have to register with you to redeem, and then, not have your site ready for us.

I am in the same boat as the rest of you, I want the dvd and blu-ray combo pack so I can  watch it wherever not just at home on my blu-ray player.  I think marvel has really blown this, because I am not buying the movie.  And I really wanted it!!! Every other movie has come out with bluray and dvd and digital why not this one?

Why not Marvel?????

The single disc Blu-ray DOES have the bonus features. Every single place I looked it up on seemed to be saying that only the 3D combo pack had the bonus features. The single disc Blu-ray's got ALL of the special features listed above (Extended/deleted scenes, gag reel, Winter Soldier, Brother's Journey, Scoring, & Commentary).

I had to go to Target & physically look at the packaging to learn this. That's ridiculous.

I still would have preferred the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, but as the Blu-ray has all of the special features, I did buy it.

It looks like I'm not the only customer who was disappointed to find out that Thor: The Dark World is not being sold in the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo. Sorry, Marvel but you blew it this time! I will not be buying either versions of this product separately.

I purchase this combo because I watch the Blu-Ray at home. The DVD is playable in my vehicle for the kids on a long trip. And the digital version goes on my mobile device. I don't own a 3DTV; I don't need to buy a 3D disc.

Continue to pull this marketing snafu and you will never get another disc sale from this ticked off customer. Correct this and do what is right for the customer.

I got it to work on my Vudu account so now I have Thor The Dark World. You just have to really do what it say to make it work you have to go too where it say and then you can pick (iTunes-vudu etc..) and then it will take you there then you have to log on to your account there and your movie will be added

1) Go to marvel.com/thor and hover over MORE than click Offers

2) Enter your code

3) Sign into your Marvel account or create a new account

I did the above on my Mac with no Blu Ray drive, I do own a 3D Blu Ray drive but it is not hooked to my computer

I purchased your combo pack at Walmart. I did not read the fine print about "Digital Copy" for the Digital version. Why not just put the disc in the CD case like I have with all other movies "The Hobbit" for example? Am returning as I have no blue ray yet and the digital download is useless. I will be extremely wary of your products from now on.

I want to add my disappointment for the lack of the seemingly industry standard package of Blu-Ray + DVD (with or without the Digital Copy).  I don't own a 3D TV, nor do I ever believe I will own one.  I know that Marvel sold (and I have purchased) previous movies in this packaging and find it very poor judgement that this movie will not be packaged like-wise.

I am adding myself to those that will not purchase the movie, as I had hoped to do today.

Big Error in judgement, Disney/Marvel.  One I hope you rectify quickly!

My Walmart didn't have Thor TDW on the shelves yesterday (Tuesday), and today (Wed) there still wasn't any.  The store clerk said that they didn't get a single copy shipped in time for the Tuesday release date.  I wanted to see about getting the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital copy version, and like many you stated, I too didn't see that version of it anywhere online.  I don't own a 3D TV, and quite frankly, today's 3D sets are not ready for prime time.  I also don't own a standalone 3D Blu-Ray player, because I don't have a 3D TV.   Face it, we got the shaft on this release, and it is a real shame.  I guess that I'll have to wait until Black Friday to buy it, like I did with Man of Steel, which I got for $9.99.

Marvel, please provide a Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy version of Thor: TDW for us to buy, and make your loyal movie fans happy.

I do not own a 3D TV & do not want one. I want a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack. I want all of the bonus features. I am NOT buying a 3D disc I can not play just to get bonus features. I am NOT buying the single disc DVD or Blu-ray & not getting bonus features.

Gee, I guess I'm not buying this movie. Which is a shame because I REALLY WANTED IT.

Why is there no Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy version?  I'm tired of not having an option to purchase what I want instead of what Marvel/Disney seems to think I want.  I don't want a 3D Blu-Ray, nor do I have any desire to adopt it in my household.  I want a Blu-Ray for Myself, a DVD for my kids (that they can destroy without my getting mad at them for damaging my copy, and a digital version for my mobile devices.  Iron Man 3 offered this combination, as did Captain America, and the original Thor...then the Avengers forced me into purchasing a 3D disc that I will never use; make up your mind.  I would think that by offering every permutation of versions (DVD only, Blu-Ray only, DVD/Digital, Blu-Ray/Digital, Blu-Ray/DVD, Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital, and any combination that includes 3D Blu-Ray) would be better from a marketing standpoint and would prevent so many negative comments.  Please rectify this situation with Captain America: the Winter Soldier.

Dear Marvel/Disney, I thought I'd crack on release day, but I didn't. Neither did my relatives. All but one of my friends also remained strong and didn't buy what BS you were putting out this time. The one friend who did break down and buy a copy actually ended up buying the steelbook version, and when he opened it up, guess what? There were 2 discs, but there were slots for 3. There was the 3D Blu-Ray on the left, and on the right there were two overlapping slots but one Blu-Ray disc (i.e., the remaining slot was glaringly empty). He is ticked and might return the whole thing after all, because he feels this is a huge FU to the people complaining about the lack of a DVD in the combo packs. Seriously - you couldn't at least use packaging for two discs, you had to go and flip everyone off. Oh, and it's not a fluke, since I've seen other complaints on the net about the very same thing.

Way to prove a point, Disneymarvel.

I have a Blu-Ray player that will play the first Thor movie. Imagine my surprise when I bought the Avengers on Blu-Ray and it would not play. After exchanging it for another copy (the sales people had no idea why it would not play), the second Blu-Ray would not play. After searching the internet, I found that I must need to update my Blu-Ray player. Screw all that. Too much trouble with my setup. So.. unless it will play as is, I will not be purchasing Thor: The Dark World on Blu-Ray.

GenZod

There seems to be both a DVD package and a Blu-Ray package, so those who still use DVDs can get their DVD and those who have 3D Blu-Rays can enjoy the movie in that format. I sure hope Disney/Marvel or whomever opts to move forward on the two aforementioned options so pple can shut up about not getting a DVD.

Phoenix381

According to NBC News, only 14% of people looking at TV's are even considering 3D. This is something you should already know. SO why are you combining 3D and Blu-Ray together and not Blu-Ray/DVD combo?  This is an ugly trend, if it continues, and will lock out most people from buying your movies. With Blu-Ray/DVD combo I can watch it on 2 different TV's I own. I'm not buying a 3D TV so why buy the 3D version? You're losing more sales than mine, I'm sure. Please issue a combo pack, as usual. It's bad enough all extra material has been stripped from DVD's now and put only on Blu-Ray, but to push 3D when no-one really wants one, it's completely out of line with any sales figures of any movie.

So let me get this straight... I have to pay $30.00 - $35.00 for my 3D combo pack, and I DON'T get a DVD in the package deal for that price??? WOW Marvel, way to SCREW your fans!!! Even Disney gives you a combo pack with a 3D, Bluray, DVD, AND a digital download for a package deal... I hope you'r reading this MARVEL, you should be ashamed of yourselves. And if you come out with a 3D combo pack and try to charge more for the priveledge of owning the package that everybody else sells for $30.00, I hope everybod has the good sense to boycot your money grubbing assets!!!

@scarletcandy  so many people wanted either 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD or Blu-Ray/DVD that I can't believe Marvel didn't do either. There are several discussions and reviews on Amazon complaining about it.

echoverse
echoverse

@calypso905  Amazon finally has the combo pack back in stock, but now the DVD is backordered. So maybe both types of disks had supply issues. Or maybe they just really didn't think through this release.

echoverse
echoverse

@calypso905  I've wondered if the lack of a combo pack w/DVD is somehow related to the supply issues. @TemTem1 mentioned in his post (and you can see in in unboxing videos on YouTube) that the steelbook had a slot for a third disk. I can't figure out how, though, as there doesn't seem to be a lack of DVDs and a lack of Blu-Rays shouldn't have prevented them from including a DVD in the combo packs.

But yeah, they seem to be having stocking issues. Amazon has a 1-4 week wait for the 3D, and 1-3 day wait for the Blu-Ray. The Best Buy website shows the 3D (both steelbook and regular) sold out.

kuphog1970
kuphog1970

@GenZod  Maybe it's you who should "shut up," and stop being so disrespectful and dismissive of the opinions of others.  Some of us have extremely legitimate reasons for wanting combo pack that include DVD's and/or Digital copies.  Who are you to tell other consumers what they can and can't make comments about?

calypso905
calypso905

@echoverse @calypso905  If there is indeed a DVD production issue, then they still messed up by not including a Digital Copy along with the Blu-Ray and Regular DVD versions.  For the DC version to be included in the 3D box, but not the others is a disgrace, and comes off as a money grab.  I just started to use Flixster, which allows you to register your DC on their site.  They have a software program that lets you copy your existing DVDs to Digital Copy to store on your account.  Too bad it only does DVDs and not Blu-Ray.  But even so, I don't have a Blu-Ray drive in my computer!!  Marvel just needs to do the right thing and provide a proper Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy version, and sell it at a reduced cost to us.  I think that a $9.99 price tag would reassure us Marvel fans that they really do care about us.

I hope someone at Marvel reads our posts.

@Jexx21 @57StratmanWay to be snotty about it. Sheesh, how about some sympathy; I won't be buying Thor 2 because of this manipulative market ploy either, whether Marvel or Disney or you instigated it. That image you reference does NOT show a DVD disc available, by the way.

TemTem1
TemTem1

@Jexx21 @57StratmanHey Mister/Miss Corrector, despite what you think that little graphic you linked to might imply, there is no DVD in the combo pack for any retailer (Target, Walmart, etc., usually have their own special packaging, but this year the DVDs aren't included in any combo pack). The little "DVD" symbol on the right simply means it will be available in DVD. The combo pack does not include it.

As for the rest of your post, I hope for the sake of people around you that you are not a constant corrector in real life.

echoverse
echoverse

@LAMAR108 Thank you. I figured it did, because Iron Man 3 had it as an option, but I hadn't seen anyone mention it, so I was starting to wonder.

echoverse
echoverse

@calypso905 Flixster wouldn't have worked with the Thor DVD. Their Disk-to-Digital only works with movies from certain studios, and Marvel/Disney isn't one of them, because Disney doesn't use Ultraviolet (UV).

With Iron Man 3, I believe Vudu was one of the options for redeeming the digital copy. If you connect both accounts to the same UV account, any UV movies you own should show up in both your Flixster and Vudu accounts. Your Marvel/Disney movies (and any other non-UV movies) won't sync between Vudu and Flixster, though.
