When Marvel's "Ant-Man" hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film's script.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Who cared about an Ant Man Movie before Wright was involved? It's a dumb character, that Wright would have made appropriately goofy.  Now we'll end up with a movie that tries to put Ant Man on the same level as the other heroes, which is laughable, but not funny. There's a reason he wasn't in The Avengers, despite being a founding avenger.  Hank Pymm can't keep a codename or a costume for more than a couple of years, because he's literally the most boringly average character that Marvel has.  If he was killed off, not a single Marvel fan would care. Because the character is lame, and has always been poorly defined.The only reason to want this movie was Wright being at the helm. Boo Marvel.  Just Boo.

Boo! Edgar Wright should have been kept on. Not looking forward to this as much anymore.

patiently wait...and see

it's ironic marvel finally found their "yes man" in Peyton Reed, the guy who directed "Yes Man"

I have a bad feeling about this..... no Wright... this was all about Wright and Antman.  Marvel did you lose your faith in his vision?  Lots of stories in the press about re-writes without Wright knowing about them.  Which is stange as Edgar has the Cornetto Trilogy and Scott Pilgram in his portfolio.  Trust the man, he knows what he is doing.  Marvel you are at the top of it's game right now, no doubt about that, I am super excited about GoTG, but I hope this parting of ways, wasn't about playing it safe?  You have to keep your edge and Wright was the right man for this in my opinion.

I am pretty much a fan of every and all things marvel.. but im thinking this is a bad idea. Wright and ant man were like peanut butter and jelly. This peyton dude is like oil and water... ive read his filmography... yes man and bring it on... really:/:(???!!!. How sad. I seen an interview with actor michael douglAs and even he was taken aback by the decision. I had faith in this project at first, but now... im not so certain... I hope marvel execs rethink this decision before filming commences.. but... probably.. not:(

Woo hoo! I love Peyton Reed's movies, such a great sense of rhythm and cheekiness

Hope they know comics. Directing Comic book movies should be left to Directors who know the subject matter. There are too many Directors out there who are screwing up. (Josh Trank?)

@davidtysonwhite9300 I'm not at all agree with this comment. Many people feel appreciation for this character. If you read the comments, I'd understand. Hank Pym is a great avenger.

Absolutely right. I personally could not care less for the Scott Lang character. It amazes me that every other Avenger has been bought over into the MCU as they originally were except for Ant-Man & Wasp. It kinda sucks really. I had no high expectations when Wright was at the helm. Not sure about now either.

@fatherofmegatron

Really??? another stupid ignorant remark.  It happened once such a long time ago and it does not define the character.

What about when Peter Parker hit his pregnant wife and he wasn't suffering from a bi-polar disorder like Hank was. Funny how people conveniently don't mention that one.

@Batwolf007

I wholeheartedly agree. The biggest problem is that Fox couldn't care less about respecting the original source material let alone attempting to make genuine faithful adaptations.

They hired a comedy director for the FF films and Marvel at times also hire comedy directors to do super-hero films instead of accomplished and diversified (A) list action / sci-fi directors.

Imagine Doug Liman directing a Fantastic Four film. Anyone seen "Edge Of Tomorrow"?
