Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World Ultimate Mentor Adventure aimed to empower girls 14 years and up, in grades 9 – 12, to embark on a journey to discover their potential and future in the world of STEM. Through the collaborative efforts of Marvel, UL (Underwriters Laboratories), Dolby Laboratories, National Academy of Science, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Discovery Science Center, girls had the chance to go out into the real world and ask successful women in STEM fields about what they do, how they got where they are, and how others can follow in their footsteps. The process was designed to help students to understand who they are, and why learning from mentors can impact their futures.
A panel of judges from UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and National Academy of Science had the difficult task of selecting 10 winners out of hundreds of entries from all over the country.
