Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll have found their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the female lead and antagonist, respectively, in Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” in theaters July 17, 2015!

Lilly will play Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of Hank Pym, while Stoll will play Darren Cross, a.k.a. Yellowjacket, the antagonist of the film. The two join stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), along with director Peyton Reed, for the size-changing super hero’s first cinematic adventure.

“We’ve been fans of Evangeline for years, and couldn’t be more pleased that she’s agreed to join us on Ant-Man’s journey to the big screen,” said Marvel’s Kevin Feige. “We look forward to audiences learning more about her character when she joins forces with Hank Pym and Scott Lang in 2015.

"Corey brings depth to every role he plays,” continued Feige. “As a major part of the Ant-Man ensemble, we all wanted an actor who could be both cunning and sympathetic, and help create a character as dynamic as Marvel's best antagonists."

Most recently, Lilly impressed audiences around the world with her portrayal of the willful and skilled Elfin archer Tauriel in Peter Jackson’s second installment of the Hobbit trilogy, “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug,” and will once again reprise the role in “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” later this year. Lilly was first introduced to audiences, who turned into die-hard fans, when she played Kate Austen for the entire length of ABC’s international hit series “Lost,” for which she also received a Golden Globe nomination and won a Screen Actor’s Guild Award.

Stoll, celebrated for his Golden Globe-nominated turn as Rep. Peter Russo in "House of Cards" on Netflix, recently appeared in "Non-Stop," which opened in first place at the box office earlier this year. The actor currently stars in “The Strain” on FX, the series premiere of which earned eight million viewers, and will next appear in Showtime’s award-winning “Homeland” series.

The fact that you've seemingly erased Janet van Dyne's Wasp, a founding Avenger, is just a horribly unforgivable move. She is more than just her relationship with Hank.

Women aren't interchangeable. You can't just switch them out. If I wanted to to see that done, I'd watch a DC show or movie.

I really hope you change some things and Hope van Dyne becomes Hope Pym, with an unnamed mother, so Janet/Wasp can still be used down the line. She's a fantastic character who deserves to get her time in the MCU.

It was the co-creators of arrested development that directed the winter soldier so no kidding that was great! I agree with whoever just said that it really doesn't matter what a persons previous work was... I wouldn't necessarily have thought John Favreu would have been a great marvel director... but I'd say Iron man was pretty sweet.

Wow, they're really taking creative licensing with this character. Hopefully this all works out because if not then it will really screw up the follow up movies like Avengers 3 and so on, perhaps even re-think other movies like Dr Strange and Black Panther

Why is Darren Cross Yellowjacket ? WOW ! You guys a stripping Hank Pym of everything that makes him a unique character. Somebody else commented about Black ant, Why not make Darren Cross the Black Ant instead? or make Darren Cross, Crossfire just like the comics

It's this damn director that bothers me so much. Googled his most famous films, and they're all crappy comedies and/or chick flicks that aren't anywhere near noteworthy. Please god let this movie be a mercy killing.

I think the movie is fleshing out perfectly! We have Stark wanting to retire his role as Iron Man so he could go back to having a normal life. And we now have the go-to guy in Pym, and three proteges. One being his daughter, one being his chosen(?) successor, and the guy who uses another identity out of retaliation for what happened.

Color me interested, because if I am right... It will be Marvel Studio's version of a classic story! (^o^)/

This is certainly interesting. I trust that Marvel is making a good decision here. Whiny fanboys will hate this though.

Marvel, why did you decide to destroy my favorite character; Hank Pym?

kind of confused myself however the yellowjacket costume has been stolen before and used.

Ahhhhhhhhhh That SUCKS ! Why is Darren Cross Yellow Jacket ? Thats supposed to be Hank Pym !!!! If you were making Yellowjacket someone different why not make him Hank Pym Jr since you guys are doing Hope Pym ??!?! OR why not use Whirlwind, Egghead, Wonder-Man, Radioactive Man, Claw, or Eric o Grady ??? Wait why not make O'Grady Yellowjacket or the Black Ant?? Or make Corey Stoll the Black Ant instead of Yellowjacket !!

I accepted the older Pym, Pym not being a founding Avenger or part of the current avengers alongside Janet, I still haven't accepted the Ultron thing...PLEASE keep the rest of what makes Pym interesting to him.

@Phenominal13 The WInter Soldier directors werent big directors and that movie turned out fine. Just because someone isnt big doesnt mean they arent any good.

@marvelous19999 Marvel sure is straying from the source material that they themselves released throughout the years...

@CrystalMcGhee @marvelous19999 Surely by now people know that there are multiple sources used to create a Cinematic Universe. It is not, and has never been, and was never meant to be, an exact duplicate of any ONE Marvel Comic Universe, be that "616" or "?Ultimate". It is an amalgamation of the two AND then  adapted further to work better in live action and in a cohesive universe.

As with ALL films we will see when it come out if it is an entertaining story AND if it enhances the ?Universe we#ve seen so far, because NONE of the previous films, which are pretty good are in any way shape or form, "perfect" replicas of the comic books, ANY of the comic books.

@TheRealEverton @CrystalMcGhee @marvelous19999 Yeah i understand that but dont retcon the whole charcater and everything about him. How would people feel if the first Spiderman movie was about an old Peter Parker and his first villain was MIles Morales or how would people feel if the first Batman movie was Batman Beyond and the plot was to for Terry and Bruce to stop someone using the Batman suit and tech ?

Nothing wrong with change and creating a new story, but being MARVEL movies they should follow the blueprint left by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby etc, not 100% but enough for comic fans and regular movie goers to enjoy them equally. They couldve made this movie work without changing up so much and they didnt change up so much to enhance the universe it was Edgar Wrights "vision" that held two great characters back. Ant-Man and Wasp.

If it wasnt for Edgar Wright these characters would have already been incorporated in the MCU and thats a fact. Theyre working with the mess that Edgar left and trying to build out of it.

Why do people get say its ok to change source material but then get mad when they see Deadpool in xmen origins ?

Theres leaked footage of the deadpool trailer. Look for it. LITERALLY EVERYTHING in that trailer sticks to source material ! and people are going BANANAS for it even non comic fans. Sticking to source material to a certain extent is whats going to make future comic books movies good instead of stale.

@marvelous19999 @TheRealEverton @CrystalMcGhee

I say this as a comic book reader, collector, seller, and part time illustrator - the average movie goer does not care about hte source material as long as the resulting film is well done and entertaining. Comic readers make up literally less than 1% of the movie going audience at comic book films.

@marvelous19999 Couldn't have said said it better myself... And FOX needs to make a Deadpool movie similar to the leaked clips! That could literally start printing them gold! Deadpool has great universal appeal.

@CollectableKid @marvelous19999 @TheRealEverton @CrystalMcGhee Only 1% ? Where'd you learn that? Please I would love to see these numbers. Just because the average movie goer doesnt care about source material doesn't mean you disregard it because there are alot of comic fans and Im pretty sure if it was 1% MARVEL wouldnt be making these movies . It shuld be respected and so far every character has been shown some respect except for founding members Hank Pym & Wasp.
