Marvel Mourns Stan Winston

Four-time Oscar winner passes away at 62.

Stan Winston

Stan Winston, legendary special-effects expert, died June 15 at the age of 62 from multiple myeloma. Winston earned four Oscars for his work on "Aliens," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Jurassic Park." "Stan is a legend in the film industry whose passion and unparalleled talent brought the magic of storytelling to life on the screen for millions," said Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios, and a producer of "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk." "He was larger than life, and it was a lifelong dream fulfilled to have worked with him on 'Iron Man.' And while his legacy will endure through his movies, Stan will truly be missed." All the practical suits in Marvel's first self-financed picture, "Iron Man," were built by Stan Winston Studios, who helped to bring this long-awaited super hero to life on the big screen. Everyone at Marvel Entertainment extends heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Stan Winston.
