Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: MVL), a global character-based entertainment and licensing company founded in 1939, announced that at a special meeting held this morning, Marvel stockholders approved the adoption of the Agreement and Plan of Merger entered into by Marvel and The Walt Disney Company ("Disney"), which provides for a merger in which Marvel will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney. Marvel anticipates that the merger, which, based on the closing price of Disney's common stock on December 30, 2009, has an estimated value of approximately $4.3 billion, will be completed today after the close of the market.
The completion of the merger is subject to satisfaction of remaining conditions disclosed in the definitive proxy statement/prospectus filed by Disney with the Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to Rule 424 on December 2, 2009.

I hope this doesn't have any effect on the movies. Everything seemed to be going so well. I guess this is just the ultimate reminder that Marvel is a business and a business' only function is to earn money however it can. I already stopped reading comics from the Distinguished Competition because they were going nowhere creatively. It won't be that hard to quit Marvel if Disney feels the need ...

That means new Marvel projections coming out AFTER being run through the Disney censors. It seems ridiculous to me that after pulling the company out of the rut it was in in the 90's to sell it off to the monster that is Disney, it just doesn't sit well with me.
This is a good thing, kids, now Marvel has more money to spend, and that means more Marvelous things coming out in the future. Yay for Disney's and Marvel's marriage, I wonder what their kids will look like
No no no no no no no no no no nooooo!!!!I can't believe this is happening! I never thought I would live to see the day when Marvel would be assimilated by the evil Borg entity known only as...DISNEY. Even the ties of longtime fan-loyalty aren't enough anymore. If Disney ruins Marvel the way it has so many other things, I may have to turn my back on Marvel forever. How could you do this to us ...

If Disney ruins Marvel the way it has so many other things, I may have to turn my back on Marvel forever. How could you do this to us, Marvel? And How could YOU approve, Stan Lee? Whatever happened to integrity? Whatever happened to individuality? All of that is going to either flee or be destroyed by this deal!I don't mean to start a flame war or anything, but I am appaled that such a thing could happen! I'm not in the mood to discuss it however, I'm just ranting and raving here.

I don't know if I am right or wrong about this but Marvel is still all about the hard copy or antoherwords the actual Comic Book. With Disney Marvel will be able to distribute World Wide with no concerns about anything because Disney allready reaches the world.I thought they said that is why they are doing it.Also the 60 billion in assests that Disney has I hope may mean that we will be seeing ...
