To the "true believers" Marvel UK made its bank on Alan Moore. Have you ever read the Moore/Davis run on Captain Britain? It is the only time the character had any meat to him at all. Should Marvel characters rain bloody parts down on London? I don't know, but did you read that horrible story called Ultimatum?? The death of the Blob, the Wasp, Daredevil and everyone else? That was less gory for you? Without Moore writing Watchmen, Miracleman, Swamp Thing and countless other stories we would still be reading bronze age style garbage. He created the graphic novel art form, he spawned countless imitators and when people like Loeb, Geoff Johns or any of the other modern writers create anything partially worthy of reading they all owe a giant thank you to Moore for making it possible for people to stop thinking of comics as just for kids.  None of us would even enjoy the art form if that was the kind of stuff being published today. He took a character that was as whitebread bland as imaginable and made it into the greatest comic story of all time. You ever read any of Stan Lee's old comics? While he is arguably one of the greatest comics creators of all time, Stan's stories just do not fit today's world. The comic art form owes as much to Mr Moore as it does to Stan, Siegel& Shuster, Bob Kane and Ditko. Every fan should have the preference, but you cannot even remotely be taken seriously if you call someone like Moore a hack. He has had more original ideas and created more genres within the comics world than any other modern day writer. Make mine "something other than bland predictable storytelling"!

I guess I am one of the few people who thinks that maybe children shouldn't see there favorite superhero getting molested and then ripping peoples body parts off and making the sky "rain" with them. But lets put that aside, Marvel/Disney owns the character now let them do whatever they want to with him. If you don't like it deal with it! Now go read v for vendetta and leave the true believers alone!
