For the past year, Peter Parker has had to deal with one of his worst foes, Venom, running around using the Spider-Man name with Norman Osborn's Avengers.
Now, as Osborn's reign nears its end and the battle of Asgard reaches a fever pitch, Peter will come face-to-face with his impersonator in SIEGE: SPIDER-MAN #1, on sale April 21 courtesy of writer Brian Reed and artist Marco Santucci.
Mac Gargan, the current host for the Venom symbiote, has experienced a wave of popularity since joining with Osborn, but now he sees his time in the limelight nearing its end.

The coming confrontation between Peter Parker and Mac Gargan will also let the one, true Spider-Man share just how he's felt watching a villain usurp his good name.
"Spidey hasn't appreciated a murderer pretending to be him, but oddly enough what's bothered him most is Mac's eating habits...and what the people of New York who have seen it think about such behavior," reveals the writer.

"This issue is almost an epilogue to SINISTER," he states. "All through SINISTER we saw Mac's side of the story, now Spidey's getting a chance to comment on the wonderful world of Mac Gargan."
Despite his time with the Avengers over the past few years, the events and scope of Siege still make Spider-Man feel like a fish out of water in the battle.
"[He's] not at all [comfortable in a conflict like Siege], and that's a part of this story," notes Reed. "Spidey [is] finally admitting out loud that he's never been really sure why the other heroes think he's good enough to be called an Avenger."

"There's a weird kind of relationship brewing between her and Spidey, and I have a lot of fun writing the two of them just talking to each other," the writer says of his desire to pair the two up once again.
Reed promises fans at least one other big surprise in SIEGE: SPIDER-MAN that they won't want to miss.
"There's a brand new Venom in these pages! You have to pick up the issue to see who dons the symbiote!"

Boy, if JJJ became Venom, do you think he'd have any competition at running for a second term in the mayor's race? Seriously though, this stories ending sounds like it could be Harry Osborn as Venom. Maybe since daddy's falling from power, Harry might inherit the Osborn legacy again.

So far no one has been better with the suit than Eddie, but he gets tired real fast. I can only hear "I will eat your brains!" so many times (as awesome as it is), before I want some plot. The problem with Brock-Venom is he becomes more like Sandman. By that I mean that every time there is a new arc his powers are shorting out or out of control or taking over and spider man is fighting an overly large symbiote until he finds a way win. Just like when he has to fight an overly large Sandman and find a way to win.There is a perfect guy or gal out there for the symbiote, the key is experimenting with various people until they find that person. Until that person is found I vote for JJJ-Venom!
