We know the initial excitement has not worn off over the announcement that "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds" is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 in Spring 2011. It's been 10 years since "MvC2," so we're just as psyched to play the game as you are!

Fans have been asking us questions about "MvC3" on Twitter, Facebook and here on Marvel.com, and while we can't answer all of them now, we do have more details and insights to share about the game. Read on to learn everything we can tell you about "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds."

Some of Capcom's goals for "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" are to maximize depth and minimize complexity, return to the roots and core mechanics of fighting games and to make the best fighting games accessible to everyone.

The technology that powers "Resident Evil 5" and "Lost Planet 2" now powers "MvC3." This tech, MT Framework, uses powerful processers to unite fighting games with Marvel characters and visuals. While tech is very important, Capcom has also enlisted key staff members from past "Vs." fighting games to work on "MvC3," ensuring it will be as amazing as fans expect it to be.

When discussing the art style behind the game, Capcom's Senior Community Manager and "Special Advisor" Seth Killian explained that there are comic book touches throughout the experience, from special shaders that capture the essence of Marvel-style comics, to catchprases, to opening and ending slates and even in-game events.

"We worked with Marvel to bring [Wolverine] towards what he looks like in the comics," Killian said, when discussing Wolverine's updated look as seen in the trailer. "A lot of the touches are specifically comic book related. In-game events are keyed towards invoking those comic book moments."

Chris Baker, Marvel's Manager of Licensed Games revealed that throughout his two-and-a-half years at Marvel, there've been talks, discussions and requests for the game.

"We've been wanting it at Marvel," said Baker, "and fan demand has been crazy."

The fighter has actually been a reality for about a year, but Marvel and Capcom have kept it a secret until now.

"[Marvel is] definitely bigger now than ever," Baker added. "It's the perfect time to come out with the best fighting game with our characters.

Fans eager to learn about the fighting system in "MvC3" take note: It's brand new!

"We're still kind of hammering out the finer details of the fighting system," said producer Ryota Niitsuma. "I would have to say the goal is to take the best elements of 'Marvel vs. Capcom 2' and 'Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars' and put them together to make something very good. I think if you look at 'MvC2' and recent titles I'm in charge of, you can see where we're going in terms of fighting game system. ['MvC3' is a] nexus between the two games. 'MvC2' gamers have certain expectations. It won't change everything you know about fighting games; [it's] meeting place between them.

"Something that's important is to make sure [that] 'Marvel vs. Capcom 2' fans aren't alienated, that if feels familiar to them, but brings something new to the table," said Niitsuma-san. "It's very easy to overlook the fact that some games become too complex. Characters all have move sets that you become familiar with. If they become too complex, it's not fun. We want the controls to be simplistic, unlike Street Fighter. It's a good entry point for anyone to play the game. Once you learn the controls, you look at it as a fighting game and what will make it great as a fighting game."

While the fighting system is still taking shape, the actual battles in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" remain in traditional 2D.

"It's going to play more like 'Street Fighter IV' in the sense that it will be a 2D playing field, [but] character models and graphics will be rendered in 3D." Niitsuma-san explained.

Seth Killian, a veteran Street Figher player so skilled they named the SF character Seth after him, added, "[Everyone is] happy with Capcom's ability to use 3D models to replicate that 2D pop. 'MvC3' has really nailed it so far."

Of course the chief concern for most fans revolves around characters. How many characters will show up in "Marvel vs. Capcom 3"? Who's in the game? Will all the old favorites return? What about new characters? We can't give everything away yet, but we do have some answers!

According to Niitsuma-san, there will be over 30 fighters in the game.

"'MvC2' had 15 years of sprites to steal from," Killian added. "We could grab them and throw them into the game and then balance [the gameplay]. These [characters and 3D models] are really lovingly recreated. The team is dying already trying to get more in there."

"We want to put everything in to please the fans," admitted Niitsuma-san. "Since 'MvC2' came out, Capcom came out with many games. We'll be announcing characters periodically. The dev team themselves want to get some of the newer characters in."

"There have been Marvel characters created and who have gotten more popular in the last 10 years," Baker added. "That's influenced our decicsion."

And when asked about the question of more costumes, Niitsuma-san had this to say. "Instead of spending our time making multiple costumes, we're spending our time making more characters. Our goal is to put as many characters in the game as possible. If we can make more costumes, we will. You'd rather have more characters, than more costumes, right?"

You know there will be plenty of characters, but what about a story? You betcha!

"Story is not [a top priority for] fighting games," Killian admitted. "'MvC2 is the worst story in fighting games. We're gonna kick the crap outta that one. Marvel's had some really amazing ideas already. I'm a lapsed comic book nerd, I've been out of the game for a while. I find the story a little bit exciting!"

"It's not a story-driven RPG," Baker explained, "[but] story is very important to Marvel. There'll be some [exciting] announcements in the next few months. There's definitely more of a story focus, definitely the biggest in this particular series. It will have a cohesive story that will have a beginning and an ending for each character."

"When we started making the game, story wasn't the first thing we thought of," Niitsuma-san said. "[We've thought about] how we can incorporate story elements into the background of the game. There are story elements to the trailer. There's more than what you saw in the trailer. We've been in talks with Marvel about how we could add story elements to the game and not make it as generic as previous releases. The main focus is [still] fighting, not story."

Two final hints we can point to relate to music and online play.

"We are going to change all the music," said Niitsuma-san. "We're trying to make a lot of music for this game. It needs a lot of content, that extends to music as well. We're going back to the drawing board.

"We're going to have network play," Niitsuma-san added about multiplayer options. "You can't have a fighting game without that right now. As far as specifics, we've taken opinions from fans in consideration."

That should give you guys plenty to think about! "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds" tornado claws its way onto Xbox 360 and PS3 in Spring 2011.
