When you combine the greatness of Moon Knight with the Amazing Spider-Man no regular-size comic book can hope to contain them! No, sir, there must be double-sizing, which is exactly what you'll receive with VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT #9, swinging your way this June 3.

To get us in the mood for the landmark issue, writer Gregg Hurwitz helped out with a few thoughts on the relationship between the two heroes in general and the story in particular.

"Up until now, Spider Man has foiled Moon Knight in that he's a 'proper' super hero in the classic tradition," he explains. "He doesn't have multiple personalities, he never carved his insignia in the flesh of crooks, and he doesn't have a big-ass Egyptian god lording over him. Spidey was critical of Moon Knight, but in [the 'Shock and Awe' story arc], Moon Knight proved something to himself and the super hero community.

"There's a brief window here, now, where [Moon Knight and Spider-Man] are oddly aligned in their world view. So I thought it a great and unique chance for them to embark on an old-fashioned team-up-the kind I read and loved so much as a kid. So this is a throwback adventure story."

As we all know, Spidey always seems to be where the action hits hardest. With that in mind, VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT #9 provides the perfect situation for the wall-crawler to enter Moon Knight's world for a bit of head-busting.

"[Spider-Man] swings right into the story for one helluva collision," promises Hurwitz. "He's important because it's one of his villains romping around in Manhattan and he's gonna need Moon Knight's help.

The Spidey-foe in question goes by the name of Sandman, so no wonder Hurwitz claims a major portion of his enthusiasm for this issue stems from that as well as Spidey's presence in general.

"To be honest, it's seeing the art when it comes in," he says of his greatest thrill while scripting such a tale. "It's so great and puts me back in my 11-year-old brain. Spidey is one of the greatest comic book characters out there, and every time I see him actually taking shape in one of my stories, it gives me a little jolt down the spinal cord."

And what about fitting the jovial web-slinger into the darker world of Khonshu's errand boy? How's that work?

"He's great in an MK story because of the contrast," says Hurwitz. "They couldn't be more opposite personalities."
