It's all been leading up to this.

Mary Jane, but wasn't fast enough to stop a sniper's bullet from sending
Aunt May into a coma. In AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #539 MJ keeps a watchful eye over May, as Spidey ventures out, pulling his black costume out of retirement and thirsting for vengeance.

Kingpin of Crime. After checking in on his wife and aunt in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #541, Peter inflitrates the Ryker's Island prison complex to confront the Kingpin once and for all.
