It appears as though the answer to my question is "NO." I just received issue #501 of The Invincible Iron Man, and did not receive #500.1.
if deadpool is on 34 now it will be hard to keep up with the series
The only question I have is:Will subscribers to comics such as Amazing Spider-Man get these issues as part of their subscription. It seems to me if these "Point One" issues "begin major new storylines" in the associated comics, then someone subscribing to the associated comic may miss out if they don't receive the issue. I see no mention of this concern.

This will not get new readers interested. What will get new readers interested is reducing the price of comics! Will Marvel reduce the prices of their entire line of titles to $2.99 like D.C. will, or only these .1 issues? Actually I think all the companies should lower their prices below $2.99 too, but I know that I'm asking for too much. Advertising the books in commercials might help, but I realize those are expensive.
