| Extreme Makeover: Home Edition art created by Marvel Custom Solutions, Todd Nauck and John Rauch |
This past Sunday, Marvel Custom Solutions joined the heroes of ABC’s "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" for the most marvel-ous home renovation of the season! The design team helped Patrick Sharrock--a hero in his own right--realize his dreams. If you missed it, you can watch the full episode on ABC.com right now!
Last week, we spoke with EM:HE's terrifically talented EM:HE designers, Ty Pennington and Xzibit, to find out what they think about helping people, what comics they read and much more! Now that you've seen the episode, we wanted to share some of the amazing art produced by Todd Nauck, John Rauch and the Marvel Custom Solutions crew.
"Drawing the 'Extreme Makeover' comic was a lot of fun," said artist Todd Nauck. "I enjoy taking real people, like Ty and the design team, and creating a 'comic book' look for them. Ty Pennington has such a big personality, he was quite easy to capture visually. Xzibit, Ed, Eduardo and Leigh Ann were fun to capture in comic form as well. Extreme Makeover also provided me specific scenes from the episode that they wanted translated into a comic page."
“With his shining heart and unbreakable spirit, Patrick is an inspiration to all of us here at Marvel," said Marvel Editor Bill Rosemann, who headed up the project for Marvel Custom Solutions. "It was an honor for everyone involved to do our small part to help bring his dreams to life. Captain

"I was honored that 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' asked me to help create Patrick Sharrock's character, Dr. Scorcher," Nauck added. "Patrick is definitely a hero, overcoming so much adversity while afflicted with Brittle Bone Disease. It was my intention to capture the spark of Patrick's personality in the excitement of Dr. Scorcher.
"It was a blast to get to draw the mural for Patrick's room," Nauck said. "I'm a big Avengers fan! I initially sketched the mural as one piece. Once I received approval from Bill Rosemann and A.J. Fierro at Marvel and the 'Extreme Makeover' crew, I did finished art of each Avenger, including Patrick as Dr. Scorcher, on a separate layer. Then, superstar colorist, John Rauch, assembled the team to fit within the borders of the mural."
