True Believers, get ready for one more blockbuster this summer--though not on the big screen--when Upper Deck and Marvel Entertainment present “The Avengers: Kree-Skrull War,” an innovative trading card set-turned-original comic book.

It’s been four decades since the classic cosmic clash took place within the pages of THE AVENGERS (#93-#97), where the Marvel Universe’s two most advanced alien races went head-to-head with Earth and its mightiest heroes in the middle of the intergalactic dispute. In July, writer Sean McKeever (INCREDIBLE HULK, FEAR ITSELF: YOUTH IN REVOLT) unfurls tales previously untold from the battlefield of the Kree-Skrull War.

Collected, the complete 190-card set becomes a 40-plus-page comic book featuring all-new stories. Told across the nine-card comic pages of this Upper Deck series, accounts from Marvel’s greatest characters reveal new facets of the crossover event first introduced in the early 1970s by legends Roy Thomas, Neal Adams and John & Sal Buscema.

With 24 packs per box and nine cards per pack, trading card collectors and Marvel story purists alike can ravenously assemble five original tales: “The Sacrifice,” starring core Avengers Captain America, Thor and Iron Man (20 pages, art by Manuel Garcia); “The Debt” with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (eight pages, art by Andy Smith); “The Fall” with Nicky Fury (six pages, art by Allan Patrick); “Power” with Super-Skrull (four pages, art by Carlos Paul); and another four-page Cap-based story entitled, “Soldiers’ Honor,” with artist Fabio Jansen.

The comic-card hybrid revolution is further celebrated with additional insert cards, richly presenting the set’s magnificent “cover” art by Harvey Tolibao--in full color as well as black and white--and even variant cover art by Paul Renaud.

Prepare to unpack new chapters in Avengers history in July with Upper Deck, and check back with Marvel.com for more details on “The Avengers: Kree-Skrull War,” including exclusive interviews with scribe McKeever and Marvel editor Bill Rosemann.
