The 5 Funniest Moments From Astonishing X-Men: Torn

Astonishing X-Men: Torn

By Christina Pham

Things get increasingly dangerous for Marvel’s Merry Mutants in “Astonishing X-Men: Torn,” on DVD August 14, but it isn’t all doom and gloom—and to prove it, we’ve compiled our list of the top five funniest moments throughout the six episodes!

Filled with the trademark humor of writer Joss Whedon, director of this year’s record-breaking blockbuster “Marvel’s The Avengers,” and brought to life by award-winning artist John Cassaday, Marvel Knights Animation and Shout! Factory bring the third chapter in the “Astonishing X-Men” saga to DVD tomorrow.

Emma Frost does her best Jean Grey

Following the events of “Astonishing X-Men: Gifted” and “Astonishing X-Men: Dangerous,” “Torn” sees the X-Men betrayed by one of their own…but not all is as it appears. Find out what’s really going on when it hits DVD tomorrow, but for now, kick back and see which funniest moments from the series made our list!

5. Kitty and Peter’s Slumber Party (Episode 2)
These two finally spent a night together, erm, building pillow forts, but they walk into the kitchen and encounter Logan the morning after. He looks from Pryde to Rasputin and remarks it’s “’bout time,” while Colossus scratches his head awkwardly. Oops, busted? Not really, since Logan could care less.

4. Emma Frost goes all Jean Grey/Phoenix on Scott Summers (Episodes 1 & 2)
Frost comes into Cyclops’ room and transforms herself into the Phoenix. She tries to woo Summers, before taking on the appearance of the Dark Phoenix and turning Scott into Wolverine…hold on, is anyone else laughing awkwardly like we are?

Wolverine discovers he has claws

3. Wolverine Finds Out He Has Claws (Episode 4)
In order to take Wolverine out of action, Emma messes with his mind, reverting him to the mindset of a young school child. After scrambling up a tree to hide from Beast, falling out, then getting bitten in the leg, Logan’s claws proceed to shoot out of his hands. He freaks out from the pain like there’s no tomorrow. Wait, we are looking at the Wolverine right? Talk about being overdramatic…

2. Beast’s Inner Kitten (Episode 6)
The kitten takes over Beast. No, really. Beast succumbs to his inner, sweeter feline side for a moment after he encounters Blindfold, who presents him with a metal box labeled “Property of Hank McCoy. Do Not Touch.” Three words: ball of yarn. Game. Set. Match.

Wolverine gets in touch with his crafty side

1.  Logan Gets Really Crafty (Episode 3)
He’s almost too crafty with those pink cutouts that possess an uncanny resemblance to the shape of Wolverine. Pink confetti litters the floor while Logan says, “Isn’t it the best, Miss Nova? Say mine is the best or I shall be cross all day!” We bet none of you can make pretty Wolverine angels like Logan does…

Pick up "Astonishing X-Men: Torn" on DVD Tuesday, August 14 to catch all these hilarious moments and more!
