To create the line, artists from around the world were invited to reinterpret the battle between Spider-Man and his most vicious enemies and had three weeks to submit their original designs. The Threadless global community of 2.2 million then voted on which designs should be printed on T-shirts.

“Marvel has created some of the world’s most iconic super heroes -- it’s an honor to work alongside a brand that resonates so closely with the Threadless artist community,” says Threadless Co-Founder and CEO Jake Nickell. “Our community tends to fall on the ‘geeky’ side of the spectrum, so a lot of these designers were already huge fans of Spider- Man. Many of them couldn’t wait to get started!”
The launch of the Spider-Man collection marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between the two brands. The Threadless community of artists will be given the opportunity to put their own spin on many of Marvel’s beloved characters, with an Iron Man collection already slated for later this year and more design challenges scheduled throughout 2013.
