Every week, we'll tap one creator to browse Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited and pick their favorite issue they've worked on from the expansive catalog. This week: upcoming AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and SECRET INVASION: WHO DO YOU TRUST? writer Zeb Wells.
"This series has more moments that I'm proud of than any other four issues I've worked on. The first issue's mostly set up. Thankfully it's set up drawn by the late, great, mad-genius Seth Fisher, so who's complaining? But the story takes off in [issue #2] and never lets up until its insane conclusion.
"My marching orders were to write a script worthy of Seth's crazy artwork. My script out-crazied it. Then Seth turned around and out-crazied the script. There are more levels of absurdity to this thing than there are people who bought it, [so] around 15. But that's not to say it doesn't have heart. If you make it through the death of Droom without shedding a tear, congratulations: You are not a human being. I'm not kidding. In the future this scene will be used by scientists to weed out Replicants.."
