Could anyone beat Wolverine in a no-holds-barred fight?
Logan has found himself in a whole lot of big trouble in San Francisco's little Chinatown, and it only gets worse in the pages of WOLVERINE: MANIFEST DESTINY #3, written by Jason Aaron with art by Stephen Segovia and on sale January 2.
Even though Wolvie hasn't had much luck against the Black Dragon's soldiers, his status as one of the toughest fighters in the Marvel Universe will surely win out—right? While we wait for the answer, Marvel.com and Aaron imagined what would happen if Wolverine came up against some of Marveldom's greatest hand-to-hand fighters…and the results ain't always pretty!
Wolverine vs. Shang-Chi
Shang-Chi, the son of an evil mastermind who has conquered every type of kung fu known to man, would certainly pose a difficult challenge to the X-Men's resident brawler.
"Shang-Chi is the master of kung fu," notes Aaron. "It says so right on the cover of his series. If he and Wolverine were duking it out in a straight-up martial arts battle, Wolvie wouldn't stand a chance. Shang-Chi would whack one of his pressure points and Logan would be paralyzed for life. But if you're talking a no-holds-barred, anything-goes type of fracas, then Wolvie would have the edge."
Wolverine vs. Iron Fist
Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist, has fought side-by-side with Wolverine many times, but what if the two came to blows? Could even Logan survive a pounding from Rand's super powered fists of fury?
"[Again,] in terms of martial arts skill and training, Logan can't compare to Danny Rand.," reiterates Aaron. "But in a down and dirty street fight, Logan would have the advantage, since he has decades more experience of being in every sort of fight you can imagine. And he also ain't above fighting dirty."
Wolverine vs. Elektra
One of the deadliest women in the Marvel Universe, Elektra would need a lot more than a couple sais to take Logan down. Luckily, she happens to have more than a few moves of her own and has sparred with Wolverine before. Plus, she's not hampered by the pesky moral compass of your average super hero.
"That would be an interesting fight," Aaron predicts. "Elektra has as much martial arts skill as anybody, and she also isn't afraid to get her hands bloody. Still, if Bullseye can kill her with a sai, then Wolvie could probably take her down."
Wolverine vs. Karnak
The Inhuman known as Karnak can find the weak point in anything—any structure, any bone, any strategy. So what happens when he comes across someone with an unbreakable skeleton? Could even Karnak stop Wolvie?
"Karnak is awesome," notes Aaron. "I love the Inhumans. But in all his meditations on the moon, I don't know that he ever envisioned anything quite as savage and unforgiving as Wolverine in full-on berserker mode."
Wolverine vs. Bullseye
Would the assassin who never misses have much luck against the mutant whose healing factor allows him to shrug off anything tossed his way?
"He can throw whatever he wants at Wolverine, but it ain't gonna take him down," Aaron remarks on Bullseye's chances. "Wolverine might look like he'd been run through the meat grinder by the end of the fight, but eventually he'd win out."
Wolverine vs. Echo
Born deaf, Echo discovered at a very young age her ability to mimic any physical action, allowing her to pick up new fighting styles the way your average joe learns a new word. But then again, it's not so easy to pick up Wolverine's berserker rage.
"She better call in the Avengers for help, because she's no match for Wolverine on her own," claims Aaron.
Wolverine vs. Zaran, the Weapons Master
Zaran gave Shang-Chi a run for his money back in the day, mixing a solid set of martial arts skills with intensive training in a plethora of weapons; but Wolverine wouldn't have very much trouble slicing through a giant scythe or two.
"He better bring along Batroc the Leaper and all of Batroc's Brigade," Aaron warns. "Even then he's pretty much toast."

Yeah, this article was a little ridiculous. First, they leave off more than half of the best H2H fighters in a supposed H2H matchup page. Then, they ADMIT that Wolverine doesn't have as much martial arts skills as many of the top tier H2H fighters. But their reason for his victory is "he's a dirty fighter." All these people may be better than him, but he's a dirty street fighter, so he'll win ...

All these people may be better than him, but he's a dirty street fighter, so he'll win. Karnak may be able to find the weak spot in anything, but Wolvie has berserker fury, so case closed. What??? Sure, Wolvie's ferocity counts for a lot, but I don't think it can just universally turn the tide when fighting people more skilled than himself. Healing factor? Now that may do the trick. But the "he's a street fighter so he wins every time" card is a little too much.

Iron Fist would probably have a difficult time, but he is still learning new techniques, which should help ever the playing field over the next few years.Bullseye and Elektra both might have a chance if they were prepared for the fight with proper weapons. Echo probably not so much.
