With their troubles confined to training exercises inside the Danger Room, the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning's young students think the world feels rather safe. However, as the New X-Men will quickly learn, the world can be pretty cruel when you're a mutant.
M-Day strikes and with the X-Men desperately trying to adapt to the new order, Reverend William Stryker sets humankind on a new mission from God: destroy all mutants. Only 27 of the 182 X-students remain mutated; friendships are torn, alliances broken and Hellion's ego gets so bloated that his inner bigot takes over and ostracizes his human friends.
As Emma Frost and Cylcops squabble over the headmastership and the enrollment of the deadly X-23, the former White Queen dismantles Xavier's school and speeds up the initiation process by pitting the X-children against each other in an all out battle! Who of the young X-squads will make X-Man and who will be sent home?
