The Digital Media Group made news on CNN.com! The article highlighted Marvel's Motion Comics venture with the upcoming release of Astonishing X-Men and Spider-Woman. Also mentioned was the slate of new Marvel video content set to be released every weekday starting April 1st on Marvel.com. New episodes of Marvel's already popular original content programming, The Weekly Watcher, Marvel Hotline and Marvel Super Heroes: What the --?! will be included in this line-up.
Japanese Spiderman, one of the videos mentioned in the article, has become a cult hit on Marvel.com and received over 210,000 plays from March 5th through March 23rd. The live action show, produced by TOEI Company in the late 1970's, captivates fans with new episodes every Thursday. The series follows the exploits of motorcycle racer turned super hero Takuya Yamashiro (not Peter Parker), as he slings and swings, battling the evil Iron Cross Army along the way. No, it's not the Spider-Man most fans are used to, but it's fun, frantic and FREE. Japanese Spider-Man is just part of the Digital Media Group's initiative to engage fans with the daily release of new video content.
