Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Showdown Spotlight: Cable vs. Captain Commando

One of the most celebrated fighting games in history returns for another round! Nine years after taking the arcade gaming scene by storm and over six years after making its original home console debut, "Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes" will soon juggle-combo its way onto Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade and PS3's PSN!



In anticipation of the "MvC2"s next-gen debut, we're bringing you daily showdown spotlights pitting a Marvel character against a Capcom character. Each entry features official game artwork, character bios and polls to determine which universe really brings the heat.

Brief Bio: One of Capcom's first mascots, Commando showed up on the manuals and boxes of early Capcom games, with his name made up of his company's—Cap. Commando. Eventually he got his own brawler, taking place in the now not-so-distant future of 2026. With the help of his Commandoes, he cleaned up Metro City of the future. With his fancy armor and the special attacks it gives him, Commando made the world of the tomorrow a safer place. In the present he's no longer Capcom's mascot, but does appear from time to time.

Powers: Captain Commando's Energy Glove provides most of his powers. While using his Energy Glove, Captain Commando can emit fire and high voltages of electricity. Captain Commando can only use his armor and Energy Glove if he is wearing his special ruby shades.

Special Moves: Captain Fire, Captain Corridor, Captain Kick, Captain Strike, Captain Sword, Captain Storm

Brief Bio: Infected as a child with a lethal techno-organic virus by the powerful mutant Apocalypse, Cable—the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor—was sent thousands of years in the future in order to save his life. Growing up in the war-torn future, Cable learned to use his mutant powers of telekensis and telepathy while becoming a freedom fighter and resistance leader. Time-traveling back in time to a few years after his birth, Cable has become a key member of the X-Men and an important figure in mutant history.

Powers: As a mutant, Cable posses telepathic and telekinetic powers that enhance his physical attributes to superhuman levels. Cables left eye, which is infected by a techno-organic virus, allows him to see in the infrared portion of the spectrum.

Special Moves: Viper Beam, Psimitar, Crackdown, Electro Trap, Psy-Charge, Hyper Viper Beam, Time Flip

Cable is the best solo character in the game with a full bar of supers.Commando is the best assist character in the game.
