One would imagine that to be a god, an individual would need to boast great stamina. Hercules better hope that assumption proves accurate, because come August 12 with the arrival of INCREDIBLE HERCULES #132, writers Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak will be putting Marvel's favorite Olympiad through double duty and Herc will find himself filling in for his golden-haired contemporary, Thor, as the book goes bi-weekly.
Luckily, the Prince of Power will have some help shouldering the burden. While he takes center stage during the even issues, his teen sidekick Amadeus Cho assumes the attention during the odd ones.
"What's exciting about the bi-weekly format for INCREDIBLE HERCULES specifically is that because our two main characters have split from each

In #132, the ball gets rolling when Balder the Brave approaches Hercules with a proposal that the Prince of Power finds irresistible and the writers considered a new way to spin a classic Marvel trope.
"Every decade or so, the Marvel Universe needs a big Herc/Thor smash up," Pak acknowledges. "This time we decided to start with a mash up, because we hear that's what all the cool kids are into these days.
"We just thought that Herc having to fill in for Thor would be a great way to get to the heart of the rivalry between these two big lugs," he elaborates. "Herc's always ready to talk smack about the Odinson. But when Herc dons the Thunder God's costume and has to really ponder what Thor would do, he might just learn something. Then again, this being Herc, he might not."

"Given how often Herc finds himself compared to Thor-usually less than favorably-he can't resist the chance to show up Goldilocks once and for all," the writer points out.
Hercules will not be alone in this journey. In addition to a "certain long-legged lady" that comes aboard to provide him with a bit of persuading to convince him to take on the role, the Lion of Olympus finds himself with a fill-in partner.
"Herc has a brand new sidekick for this storyline who'll bring his own special spark to the book," Pak reveals. "He's about the same height as Amadeus but a few thousand years older and may be more trouble to Herc than all the minions of the Nine Worlds combined."

Well if they didn't want to give this one away, they should have chosen better images, so as not to spoil it for others who are following the IH story and don't catch on from these previews, it seems :01f7d064d6 Show Zeus is going to end up coming to Earth as a youth after the resolution of his trial by Pluto. He's apparently providing the lightning bolts that Herc otherwise does not hurl while filling in for Thor[/spoiler:01f7d064d6], and is in the care of Herc and Athena, to Herc's apparent amusement. A few bi-weekly books are just what the doctor ordered. As with the thrice-monthly ASM, not having to wait a whole month for the next piece gives this extra flavor with the pacing. Unfortunately, it is going to make a bunch of other books seem a lot slower now, and it will be stress on any other book that actually tries to sync up for shared stories. The way they are telling two stories, meaning each is technically halved also works monthly each still, and I've long thought that would be a great format/save for some of the books being canceled because of lower sales despite high quality, intertwine the story (or if they must, make them half'n'half co-features), release them bi-weekly and it still equates to the same amount of storytelling per month, but with potentially twice the amount of copies sold a month if we get fans of both, that weren't of the other, picking it up (I'd even alternate giving each title 2/3 or 3/4 of the page count from time to time, depending on the demands of the story) ~ RUN as the House of Ideas, and try something groundbreaking (that isn't really all that new and novel, really).

the same size as Cho but a few thousand years older? Is Herc teaming up with Yoda? Hilarious, that would be.
