Despite what we've seen in the preview image of an evil version of the Avengers fresh from the rift, I'm not so sure this Quasar was meant to be evil... it's just as likely coincidental. His character was merely off to explore his new quantum energy form although there are a number of ways he could've been made evil between the time last we saw him and this release.It'd be almost a waste to have Quasar as an evil character now that Adam Warlock has been raised as the Magus though.I feel you with the lead character slump though. They've made strides with Ms. Marvel (despite a crappy detour to making it too Karla centric) though, and now Spider-Woman is getting her due across, formats to boot. The new Black Panther and Rogue are getting a fair amount of lead time now too, and although they are not truly solo leading, they are definitely being written as lead-story material and not tacit support characters.I'm still holding out for Storm to be put in a setting worthy of having her solo a book long term though, and Jen Walters needs to be returned to prominence, I say. Now if we want to talk newbies, they're not going to achieve proper leading lady type characteristics with the rehash approach, so X-23 and the Lyra will need a lot more distinguishing if they are to carry a book, but I'd say X-23 is viable. Another oldie with a carry book attitude is Monica Rambeau, I just know they can do something with her beyond the slim treatments she's had.

Okay. Maybe the new Quasar is evil. Then I'll forgive it ;)And yeah, I don't mean strong as in "powerful", but strong as in "a strong character" - someone who can carry a story and a book forward and not be merely a supporting cast.

Phyla Vell was one of the 'bold introductions' but I guess she is not shiny and new anymore. She was merely place-holding as a female version of Quasar from when you know her anyway, so aside from being something along the Mar-Vell legacy line, she is finally a unique character, Martyr. As for strong (not to be confused with powerful) and even being able to be still called a heroine, her latest actions may cast doubts on such a definition. You may wanna check out the Guardians of the Galaxy book.
