Marvel Ignites the Comic Book Industry

Untitled Image

Marvel energized the entire comic book industry as Senior Vice President of Sales & Circulation David Gabriel revealed the biggest and boldest initiatives in years at the Diamond Retailer Summit in Baltimore.  Speaking before the top comic book retailers in the industry, Gabriel revealed family-specific events such as Fall of the Hulks, the X-Men crossover Second Coming, the extension of the Dark Tower collaboration with Stephen King, and the return of Allan Heinberg & Jimmy Cheung with Avengers: Children's Crusade.  But the talk of the entire industry was centered around the blockbuster event SIEGE, beginning in December from top writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Olivier Coipel.  This line-wide crossover event is the culmination of stories that have been brewing in the pages of Marvel events for the past 7 years and sets up the bold new direction for 2010.  It also features the eagerly-anticipated reuniting of the three core Avengers- Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. Marvel also debuted a new Siege trailer exclusively for retailers, providing a first look inside the event, and teased a change in 2010 called "The Heroic Age."

[color=seagreen:804b2e2240]The Heroic Age.Sounds interesting. And if it is an era of hope and optimism, that can only mean something bigger (and more sinister) will happen to the MU after a while.[/color:804b2e2240]
