New York, NY-August 6, 2010-In a coup for Marvel Entertainment, Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel TV, revealed the all-star, award-winning creative team for the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, premiering on Disney XD. This team includes the most sought-after and acclaimed writers in the comic and television industries, including Eisner & Emmy award-winning scribe Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Lost); Eisner award-winning writer Brian Michael Bendis (visionary behind Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man comic series); and the red-hot creative powerhouse Man of Action Studios (creators of hit series Ben 10 and Generator Rex), comprised of lauded creators Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle .

Steering Ultimate Spider-Man as the Creative Consultant, Dini will also write the series pilot; as Supervising Producers, Man of Action Studios will direct the writing staff, generate scripts and story edit; and Bendis, the man who reinvented Spider-Man for a new generation, will oversee the series as Consulting Producer.

"When we first sat down to discuss 'Ultimate Spider-Man,' we put together a wish list of the most exciting talent working in animation who would bring the best voice and creative direction to the show - and I'm proud to say we got them all," said Jeph Loeb. "We want 'Ultimate Spider-Man' to be a showcase for Marvel Animation and Spider-Man is the perfect character to give fans just what they want."

Working in the Marvel Universe for the first time, Dini explained, "As a lifelong fan of the Marvel Universe, I'm excited to tackle these characters in such a bold new series. 'Ultimate Spider-Man' will bring fans a new take on their favorite friendly neighborhood hero- and some surprise cast members-- while staying true to what's always made Spidey so popular. We've got a superb creative team assembled with amazing stories to tell and I can't wait for fans to see what we've cooked up."

Bendis echoed those sentiments, exclaiming, "It's 'Ultimate Spider-Man,' the animated series-and it happened in my lifetime! That's just so cool. I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this and here's to Jeph Loeb for putting it all together!"

Equally thrilled to join "Ultimate Spider-Man," the Man of Action team explained, "We're looking forward to having a lot of fun working on Spider-Man. They've brought us in to help provide a unique vision for the show while remaining absolutely true to the character, so that's exactly what we'll be doing. Should be a great ride!"

Cort Lane, Vice-President of Animation Production & Development added, "From 'The Super Hero Squad Show' to the upcoming 'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes,' Marvel Animation is focused on making the best super hero shows for fans of all ages. Now, with this tremendous talent signed for Ultimate Spider-Man, we're about to give fans super-powered animation like they've never seen before."

@ShrubGoblinDid you actually read the article? Paul Dini is on the show and he was the guy that wrote Batman:TAS

I don't need a superstar mega deluxe crew to enjoy spider-man. I need a crew that knows the character and won't try to make him as generic as humanly possible so that the tween money bags will give them an audience. I understand that maybe sometimes it's hard to take risks in the entertainment industry, but if you really have a good idea, it's stupid to not take a gamble on it. Wait for people with those good ideas before shoving more stuff down my throat that makes me really sad I'm a Spider-Fan. I have the posters, action figures, games, watches, clothes, comics, bedding supplies, etc. I'm dedicated, treat me like you respect me as a fan, please.Get someone with vision. If you have to get cheap, get the team that did the Batman The Animated Series on the job. They're versatile, they're passionate, and they can add a level of depth that's been missing from the character for a long long time. They've never disappointed me, while most Spider-Man cartoons are either ended too quickly because they didn't get the audience they thought they would get with these superstar setups because it was generic or it wasn't faithful to its comic counterpart.Everyone fondly remembers the 90's cartoon because they haven't watched it recently. The art direction was weak, the voice acting was often misplaced. The dialogue animations were awkward at best and the characters often just looked bulky and weird. Very little variety to be enjoyed. The 2003 MTV series was truly spectacular. Neil Patrick Harris was easily the Kevin Conroy of Spider-Man. His voice was perfect, he understood who Spider-Man was, the dialogue was written incredibly well, it was just overall a great production. If anything, stop being so eager to jump a gravy train and get back to the classic stuff instead of bailing at the first sign of trouble. The Simpsons started out extremely weak and it's in whatever decade of seasons it's in now.I know that Marvel and DC have a sort of civil rivalry going on, but the "Batman The Animated Series" Team are more than credible, their cinematic style storytelling is consistently classic and they just have incredible taste. I know that one singular opinion hasn't made a difference since the sixties, but I'd like a little recognition in this reserved case.

Marvel guys whats wrong with you. Its seems you can't get rid off "start all over again" policy! Spectacular spider-man was really cool. But it ends before it was started. Hope this won't happen to 'USM'. Please try to continue. Ultimate storyline is cool. Don't stop halfway..........................wish you all the best

Let me clarify on my previous comment...I don;t think Spectacular sucked, but compared to the 90's series, it was kind of mediocre to me. I think I expected a lot more from it but I only watched because my 3 year old daughter loves Spider Man and so I watched it with her. I think anime style could almost work with anything, even Spider Man. It's worked out in the past, The Teen Titans cartoon was okay with it's comedic anime style. All in all with Loeb, Bendis, and DINI as a team...this should be awesome, it's best to be very optimistic. Toodles True Believers!!!!

Man whats with u guys. Quit making spidey cartoons over and over again. Do something different for a change. Doing a different universe doesnt change any thing , you're still doing Spidey again. Dont get me wrong im a diehard spidey fan too, but this is too much, give it a rest will ya. Do some other character for a change, like Deadpool, or Onslaught or something like that.MAKE MINE MARVEL.

Spectacular sucked...japanese style art does not suit spidey. i loved the 90's cartoon and hope the ultimate series will live up to that legacy. the news on the creative team has really got my hopes up.

Well, I don't think I am going to watch this until Marvel does something with The Spectacular Spider-Man. I want to see that series continued as a comic, video-game, or even finish up the storyline with a direct-to-DVD movie. I just don't see the point in watching ANOTHER Spider-Man series after the last four have been canceled before they finished. The Spectacular Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man I have ever seen!

It may be. Have you seen Ultimate Electro and Mysterio?

like a lot of other people i was fairly pissed off when they cancelled Spectacular Spider-Man. im prepared to give this show a fair chance, but im experienced enough to know that a show is no guarenteed success just because it has good writers behind it. and disney has let me down before. so i wait with baited breath.

i think this series is gonna be awsom!! i was wondering when they'd make a ulamite spiderman series! i cant wait!! xD

I think that it sucks for yall to take something off that the kids really like so that Disney to try and make a buck on it... that gets so old.. I don't care for the Ultimate Universe..I think it sucks!!!!!!as bad as that Red Sonja movie did....So I will not let my Grandkids watch this cartoon period.. I have the others on disc...

Okay, I too really enjoyed the Spectacular Spider-Man series, but it is sadly over. So get over it. Give the series a chance and if you like it cool, if ya don't well, as hard as it may be, just don't watch it!

I don't think I'll like an Ultimate animated series. That universe is too "OMG LOL!" which is exactly what Disney is abusing these days.I'd much rather see something that was intended to be true to the original series. Bring back the Spectacular series!...somewhere other than Disney would be great too....

frankly i dont see the big deal with spectacular spider-man. i want a series like the 2003 spider-man the new animated series or the 90's series.

Good team or not, I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else here and say that what we all REALLY wanted was a third season of Spectacular Spider-Man. In my opinion, Marvel should have worked harder to work a deal out with Sony to keep that animated series alive, because it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It truly is uncanny how well that series just NAILED everything we love about Spider-man, and it really is a disappointment to see such potential just wither and die because of legal issues. I don't know about this new series, mostly since I never really liked the Ultimate universe at all, so I probably won't support it. Sincerely,A disappointed Spider-man Fan.

Ups: -MoA will be great for Ultimate Spider-Man -Dini has written for some great shows -Bendis already knows Ultimate Spidey pretty well -The budget on the show will probably be able to sustain high animation quality Downs: -It isn't Spectacular Spider-Man, a disappointment to fans of the show who, by the way, still want a Complete Season 2 DVD! -DisneyXD = Virtual death sentence. Unwise. -Disney dropped Power Rangers because moms in focus groups thought it was too violent. Not a good sign. If Power Rangers was too violent, how will Spidey fare? We have to wait though. It is obviously in production and they have a good team. Let's hope for the best. -Matt

Paul Dini? I don;t give a rats butt, still will never be good as Spectacular since that was The Batman:TAS equilivent of Spider-Man.

ROLLMAN! YOU AND BONEHEAD BENDIS ARE A DISGRACE TO FANS!

SpiderManR
SpiderManR

OMG Bonehead Bendis, and PAUL DINI?! and MoA? Well this ain't gonna be anything Half as good as spectaular. (Mostly if you know the background of the project and that Idjects known as Rollman) still seems like its going to be Spider-Man:Brave and the bold, now i;m a HUGE FAN of Spidey, but thsi show is still pretty redundent, and its by Disney, the most lamest, corpret fatvat on this side of the Inferno. other then the fact that I never, and still never will like Bonehead Bendis. (I Got my reasons, why BND considered good when it's crap?) I Love Dini, infact its interesting his "redified" Parker is goi gn to be. Of course I can;t watch this show if i want to. and ordering 26 epsiodes for one season..relly Disney? and on Disney XD the lamest fo all lame fact channels...I am ashamed at you Marvel! hell everyone eehre can do a WAY BETTER JOB THEN ANY OF YOU CAN!

This is going to be the BEST Spider-Man series ever! Look at the creative team. I am an older gentelman and I'll tell you I watch Ben 10 and Generator Rex with my sons, and I think they are great series. I also watched Batman: The Animated Series and thoughly enjoyed it as well. I have been a HUGE Spider-Man fan since I was a very young boy, and have been collecting ALL Spider-Man titles since then. I believe they will do justice to the Ultimate Universse and not have to kid it down just because it's on DisneyXD. I am so excited about this series, and can't wait to see the Ultimate Villans!!

I loved the Sensational Spider-man and I am very sad that it was canceled before it was over. I just hope that Ultimate Spider-man is even close to as good as SSM was.

Ultimate_Paranormal

I'm actually pretty stoked for this as a fan of Paul Dini and a majority of Jeph Loeb's work. Yes using Disney XD as the source for broadcast is a bit of party poop, but saw that coming since Marvel is in bed with Disney. Now using G4 would've been good since they're already promoting 4 other animated Marvel shows on that channel. I hope this'll be much better than SSM ,as to me that was mediocre compared to previous Spidey shows. But I will mos def check Ult Spidey out once it premieres. MX Y'all!

Maybe they should have spread out their all-stars, then the new Avengers show wouldn't suck

danny_mug

I completely disagree, it was made as a cling point so new, young readers could enter the marvel universe after the movies. Thats why it was made when it was.

AFAIK, Spectacular Spider-Man ended up dying thanks to legal troubles, thanks to Sony (who made it) losing the animated Spidey rights. I do wish it would continue, but I'm extremely excited about this creative team (I haven't seen Ben 10 or Generator Rex, but they seem to be popular, and I know the latter has a monkey with a gun, which is like instant awesome). Just need a voice actor list now...

I agree with spider-man_101_1 Disney XD can't do to Ultimate Spiderman what the comics did it was a teenage adult title!! and now there putting it on a 2 to 12 year old television station! although I do like a couple of shows on there LOL

Man I miss Spectacular Spider-man and the animation style. It needs to be brought. I will be looking forward to this Ultimate Spider-man. I don't think I will mind the drawing once I see him in action and hopefully it will last longer with Man of Action

comiccalvin7

what happened to SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN?! you had a fantastic creative team on that and i was looking forward to see what direction it was heading in the 3rd season. and sorry to say, im not into that "faux-anime" style you guys are heading towards with the ben 10 team, i think you had a much more progressive style with spectacular spider-man

spider-man_101_1
spider-man_101_1

Dude I was SOOO excited until I saw what channel it was on. The comic series was more of a teenage/adult title, and "Disney XD" just can't do the story justice.

still sucks that they're not gonna be finishing the animated ssm. don't expect usm to come close to measuring up to it.
