Avengers Assemble!

Avengers Assemble!
"The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!," an all-new animated series featuring the best of the best in the Marvel Universe, premieres Wednesday, October 20 (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD. Produced by Marvel Animation, the series stars the world's greatest heroes--Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, Ant-Man/Giant Man and Wasp--who form the Avengers, a team assembled when the powers of a single hero are not enough to save the world.

Beginning Wednesday, September 22, Disney XD, DisneyXD.com/Avengers, Marvel.com, MarvelKids.com and Disney XD Mobile will roll out 20 micro-episodes introducing the team's core members. Each five-and-half-minute episode focuses on the back story, allies and nemeses of the heroes before the Avengers were formed.

In the two-part series premiere, "The Breakout," Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Wasp have defeated some of the most dangerous super villains on the planet. But when the Super Villain prison system mysteriously shuts down, chaos is unleashed on the world. Earth's Mightiest Heroes must now band together as the Avengers to protect the planet from the threats that no single Super Hero could face alone. Their first task is to try and stop Graviton, a being whose power dwarfs anything ever seen. He's after Nick Fury, but will destroy the world to get to him. Individually the heroes have no chance, but together they can make a difference.

Stay tuned to Marvel.com for daily micro-episodes and more beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22!

I enjoyed the one hour premiere of the new Avengers series so much, that i watched it twice last night! Having been a Marvel Comics nutter since early childhood, I have waited many years for Marvel to get it together on the animation side. The original X-Men series was rather good. The Silver Surfer series (although short-lived) was a home run. Prior to those series, one would have to go all the way back to the earlier Spider-Man and Fantastic Four series (circa 1967) to capture the essence of the Marvel Universe in animated form. As a life-long fan, I always wondered why. Why was it so difficult to bring these stories and these characters to life in animated form? Why not use the comics themselves as storyboards and script? The gold was all in the pages, now just make them move! Tell the classic stories! And please do not dumb anything down just because it's a cartoon! The span and scope of many Marvel Comics stories are so vast, that it would be impossible to effectively capture on film. The budgets would be too vast. The Marvel essence, and the stories themselves would be compromised (ie: the Phoenix saga in X3...ugg). Animation seemed the best route. Less need for compromise, and fewer limitations in terms of budget. I'm no expert, but it's a lot less expensive to build the Marvel Universe in animation cells, than to try and build it on celluloid. Last night I saw The Avengers leap right out of the pages of the Marvel Universe, and come to life! And they did so with all of the Marvel magic fully intact! The characters, the storyline, the incredible (and sometimes quite funny) action sequences, the almost dizzying possibilities for future story lines...it's almost too good to be true! I love how the Ant-Man looks classic Kirby! I can't wait for Captain America to make his debut! I love that nobody has injected a previously unknown character into the story just for the kids (a la Wendy and Marvin in the Superfriends, Orko in He-Man, and of course, Jubilee...ugg again). I could go on and on about it (i mean, more than i already have). The creative people behind this new series have kicked open a new dimension for the Marvel Universe as we know it. And i look forward to whatever comes next! Thanks much!

I purchased the original Avengers comic in the sixties. I was not dissapointed with this opening episode! I was pleased with the annimation and the plot so far. I am looking forward to the coming episodes and hope Marvel will continue this series until the end. And I agree, I can not wait to purchase the DVD set when it goes on sale. Great Job Marvel/Disney!!!

Just got through watching Avengers EMH on XD and it was awesome!! The fight in the second part was one of the best I’ve seen. I can’t wait for next Wednesday to watch another episode. I already know I will buy this whole series when it becomes a D.V.D set.

That guy that was upset because the Black Panther wasn't on the show, Shaddap!! He wasn't one of the originals and although T"Challa is an ok charector he's not one of my favorites.

I just hope it isn't as lame as most of the others have been. Why does every superhero have to be a frickin teenager. You would hope for more coming directly from marvel. And Graviton, really? They have hundreds pof Villians to chose from and that's the best they could do? I dunno, we'll see.
