BET Networks and Marvel Animation are teaming up to produce an animated series based on the legendary Super Hero, THE BLACK PANTHER. Casting is already underway for the series which is slated to premiere in the first quarter of 2009. A special sneak preview will premiere at Comic-Con in July during BET's Saturday July 26th panel. The series will be adapted directly from the first six issues of the Marvel Comic written by Reginald Hudlin (issues #1 - #6 "Who Is The Black Panther"). The partnership between Marvel Animation and BET Networks marks an important milestone in the expansion of the channel's animation division and the realization of a project that has been a labor of love for BET's President, Entertainment, Reginald Hudlin. "As a lifelong comic book reader, I didn't think anything could top the excitement of writing one of my favorite characters, the Black Panther. I'm so proud I've been able to maintain a successful run of the series over the past three years while keeping

my 'day job' of programming a network. But now to have both of my worlds collide, to have a faithful adaptation of my own work as a prime time series on the network – it's a dream come true. The Black Panther has always been an inspirational character to me, and now I get to share that inspiration with the widest audience he's ever had. "I'm very excited to be working with Marvel. It's been great working with Joe Quesada and Axel Alonso on the publishing side, and I look forward to a similar experience with Eric Rollman and his team at Marvel Animation. "I want to give special thanks to Denys Cowan, my SVP of Animation, who is doing a fantastic job of bringing the art of John Romita Jr. to life," says Hudlin. Eric Rollman, President of Marvel Animation adds, "The Black Panther is a working example of Marvel's initiative to broaden our fan base by working with new and innovative partners. Reggie and his team can uniquely take material that is near and dear to them and re-imagine it for a whole new audience. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with BET." Can't wait to get a taste of the "Black Panther" animated series? Why not check out the comics the show will be based on: BLACK PANTHER #1-6 by Reggie Hudlin and John Romita Jr., currently available right now on Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited.

[quote@swordofsutekh And it's officially the most intelligent program on the network.BET is pathetic. It is undoubtably one of the top ten things holding back black people in the country today.[/quote] My,My, aren't we the negative one. I am sorry that I missed it. I have been away from comics as they no longer can inspire the adult audience like they used to.( My jab at negativism). so I missed the boat on the BLACK PANTHER series on BET. I have heard no one say wether it was good or bad. So I am wondering what I missed. Could some one email me at milesdeadahead@yahoo.com, and tell me what the show was like? and, yes I will read both sides of the coin. I know somebody just has to talk bad about it. But, keep the racist comments to yourself. We are supposed to be civilized human beings. PS, I am still waiting for a truly beautuful statue of T'Challa to be made. us African-Americans just do not seem to want these types of things. I would love to walk into a black owned company and see T'Challa on the desk. I can't even get a Tchalla Emoticon for when I write to this company. Oh well I guess I have to use storm. I sure would like the Milestone company to start writting bokks again. At least it was all black. (That's called Reverse Racism) folks. I will go back to being a merry marvel fan when these things happen. :storm:

I Would love to see this series made...by BET Hades No!, Hudlin even less So. I would much better like to see it on Cartoon Network maybe done by Aaron McGruder. And I believe Preist's Stories were great until a few storylines b4 the last storyline (which was great but should have been a seperate story) And I think Hudlin should be thanked for his efforts but should stay away from writing anymore of his Blaxploitation. Storylines are a great idea, but the actual delivery not so much. But even so I will Watch this series with great hope...I mean it BET so they will eventually cancel it for being to smart.

Great a black superhero on BET. BET is probably the only thing thats racist against its self. I will refuse to watch this show because it is in that channel. People wonder why Don Imus thought it was okay to call the Rutgers Basketball team what it was because BET and rappers say its ok. BET and any other channel devoted to a special interest group is not helping. There only making it worse by singling their race out.

This guy butchered the Panther legacy for the most part. Hudlin brought him back to prominence and in the mainstream. You pit any of Priest's Panther stories and Hudlin wins by a landslide. :dead:

I love the Black Panther comic since Hudlin took it over and this is awesome news. However, he has to make sure this is done right. The casting, the animation has to be just right but I know since this is his baby it'll be well done.

I believe that BET :venom: is a bad marriage. Maybe they're trying to clean up their act. But almost all animation that has gone thru BET :venom: since it's inception as a station has failed! And it sounds like according to rocdrgn788, it doesn't have the right production team. :grider: I ain't feeling BET, Panther in animation yes, but BET? I wonder how well it was shopped around.

Putting Hudlin in charge of a Black Panther animated series? :juggernaut: Any adaptations of Black Panther should be written, directed, producted and casted by Christopher J. Priest and no one else.
