Earth's Mightiest Histories: Ant-Man and Wasp

Though Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne met before the Avengers ever assembled, much of their lives since have been inextricably linked to the team.

Ant-Man and the Wasp were among the first of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to heed the call, in AVENGERS Vol. 1 #1, and though they parted ways with the team in issue #16 of that series it didn't take them long to return. Eventually, they even got married in the pages of AVENGERS Vol. 1 #60.

Though the years, Hank took on a number of different identities, from Ant-Man to Giant-Man to Goliath to Yellowjacket, while the Wasp-a fashion designer by trade-became notorious for her constantly changing costumes.

As Hank and Janet continued to change and evolve, they drifted apart. Despite this, both remained active in the Avengers for long periods of time. Their tenures with different Avengers teams and rosters meant they would constantly orbit one another's lives, never losing touch and ultimately always caring for the other.

After Janet perished at the conclusion of the Skrulls' invasion of Earth in Secret Invasion, Hank took up another identity to honor his love and became the new Wasp. He currently helps train the next generation of heroes in AVENGERS ACADEMY.
