Tony in the Iron Man suit in "Iron Man: Armored Avengers"

After exploding on movie screens worldwide in 2008 in the feature film "Iron Man," Marvel brought a different take on the Armored Avenger to the small screen--as a teenager--in the animated series "Iron Man: Armored Adventures." In this innovative CGI series, masterminded by animation and comics veteran Christopher Yost, Tony Stark is a 16-year old genius whose life is torn apart when his father, Howard, dies in a plane crash. The younger Stark survives the crash thanks to the armored exo-suit he built to keep his injured heart alive. But he’s shocked to find Obadiah Stane, a former subordinate at his father’s company, taking charge and turning the elder Stark’s peace-time inventions into weapons of mass destruction.

Iron Man readies for battle in "Iron Man: Armored Adventures"

Unsatisfied by the official reports of the plane crash that ruled it an accident, Tony partners with family friend James “Rhodey” Rhodes to put a roof over his head while he tries to uncover the truth of his father’s death. After an impromptu public debut rescuing a runaway train, the media latch onto the anonymous armored hero and dub him “Iron Man.” Over the course of the first season, the teenage Tony Stark--with the help of Rhodes and classmate Pepper Potts--attempt to unravel the mystery of his father’s fatal crash and reverse the evil deeds of Obadiah Stane.

The menacing Mandarin in "Iron Man: Armored Adventures"

Meanwhile in the shadows, a mysterious figure known as the Mandarin plots to collect the five Makluan rings which, when gathered, will allow the wearer to yield ultimate power. Just as the Mandarin’s quest gets started, his upstart stepson, Gene Khan, takes control and begins his own quest for the rings, enrolling in Tony’s school to get to know the Stark family better. Joining Stark’s inner circle, the foursome try to uncover the plans of Obadiah Stane while researching the rings that Stark’s father also sought before his death. Along the way, they face off against classic Iron Man foes including Madame Masque, M.O.D.O.C. and the Living Laser while finding allies in the Hulk, Nick Fury and Black Panther.

War Machine to the rescue in "Iron Man: Armored Adventures"

By the end of the first season, Tony puts his armor through several upgrades--not without some bugs--and builds a companion suit for Rhodey called War Machine. His supposed friend Gene reveals his true self as the Mandarin once all five Maklaun rings are collected, admitting that he was responsible for Howard Stark’s plane crash…and that Tony’s father may yet be alive.

As we head into the new season, the young Tony Stark is coming to terms with the news of his father's possible survival and trying to discover who he can trust after Gene betrayed him…
