By Christina Pham

The “Astonishing X-Men” Blu-ray set made its way to shelves this week, and to continue our celebration we picked the five most memorable moments from the series.

If you got a kick out of the classic Astonishing X-Men saga by Joss Whedon, director of “Marvel’s The Avengers,” and award-winning artist John Cassaday, get your hands on the Blu-ray set now for non-stop action, suspense and sacrifice.

Now before you go pick up your copy of “Astonishing X-Men,” read on to see which moments from the entire series made our list! What was your favorite part? Did it make the cut? Check it out now!

The death of Wing

5. THE DEATH OF WING (“DANGEROUS,” EPISODE 1)

The minutes surrounding Wing’s last moments were rather morbid, to say the least. The kid lost his mutant power--flight. It was hard for him to cope with such a void, and though Armor, his best friend, tried talking sense into him, Wing tried flying nonetheless, coaxed on by the villainous Danger in disguise. Flying was the last thing he did. He took a step and hit the ground hard, tragically ending the young mutant’s life.

Kitty rescues her "son"

4. KITTY FREES HER “SON” (“TORN,” EPISODE 5)

Remember when Kitty Pryde gave birth to a boy, but Professor X took the child away from her? She wasn’t too thrilled about that, and went crazy to get the kid back. She even threatened to kill Colossus with an axe at one point. What’s that? You don’t remember any of this? Well, maybe that’s because, as Kitty discovered once she pulled her “kid” out of his imprisonment, it was all one of Cassandra’s mind games. Long story short, the scene was extremely messy. Oh Cassandra, you sure do have a knack for toying with one’s sanity…

Professor X vs. Danger

3. PROFESSOR X VS. DANGER (“DANGEROUS,” EPISODE 5)

Most of us know Charles Xavier has the ability to read minds and incept thoughts whenever he feels like it. Safe to say, the man has power, and lots of it. With that being said, Professor X takes on Danger, a robot not particularly susceptible to his telepathy. So instead, Charlie improvises by running Danger over with a semi-truck, and proceeds to rip its head from its body. Granted, more happens after that, but seriously, how "Astonishing" was the professor in these scenes?

Colossus returns

2. THE RETURN OF COLOSSUS (“GIFTED,” EPISODE 4)

When Kitty runs around escaping some armed pursuers, her thought-dead lover, Colossus, shows up out of nowhere to save her--and by “save her,” we mean bash the living daylight out of some guards. It was a rather bittersweet moment for the both of them, and at that point Peter fell to his knees, asking Kitty, “Am I--God, please…am I finally dead?” Talk about experiencing a rough patch.

Wolverine gets crafty

1. LOGAN MAKES WOLVERINE-FLAKES (“TORN,” EPISODE 3)

Who could really forget when Logan became a softy? Remember when he got artsy and made himself some pink Wolverine-shaped cutouts? We’ll definitely remember that moment for a while. Don’t forget about all the pink confetti on the floor either, and when he “threatens” Cassandra Nova with, “Isn’t it the best, Miss Nova? Say mine is the best or I shall be cross all day!” You got it, bub--it was simply the best, and no one’s craftier than you!
