Creating an animated series like "The Super Hero Squad Show" takes some talented folks to put all the puzzle pieces together. Having some patience never really hurt either, and with "The Super Hero Squad Show: Infinity Gauntlet Volume 3" coming out on DVD Tuesday, April 17, Mitch Schauer tells us about his time as Supervising Director on the series

With a ton of animated shows under his belt, including "Garfield and Friends," "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo" and the "Smurfs," "The Super Hero Squad Show" is just another accomplishment on Schauer's list!

Marvel.com: What did your role as the Supervising Director of "The Super Hero Squad Show" entail?
Mitch Schauer: Working with our very talented staff of artists, I creatively oversaw the production of the series, from character design to final delivery of each episode.

Marvel.com: How did you land the opportunity to become the Supervising Director?

Mitch Schauer: I was hired by Craig Kyle who I first met while designing characters on the Marvel/Lionsgate direct-to-video movies.

Marvel.com: Were you a fan of comics as a kid? Which super heroes are your favorite?

Mitch Schauer: My very favorite comic was Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s run on the Fantastic Four.

Marvel.com: What outside resources were utilized while crafting the looks of characters on SHS?

Mitch Schauer: Thanks to [Supervising Producer] Cort Lane’s encyclopedic knowledge of the Marvel Universe he'd supply us art reference that worked for the series and toys.

Marvel.com: Which of the characters on Super Hero Squad was your favorite to work on? Why?

Mitch Schauer: I enjoyed the Hulk because he could be childlike or use his tremendous strength to bash villains.

Marvel.com: Which of the episodes would you say is your favorite?

Mitch Schauer: Storywise, I really enjoy the Red Skull episode from season 2. Artistically, The Planet Hulk episode looks really sharp.

Marvel.com: What was the experience like for you being able to work on "The Super Hero Squad Show"?

Mitch Schauer: What’s not to like? Having grown up a big Marvel comics fan, I often find myself honored to work with characters created by creators like Kirby, Lee, Buscema, Romita, Ditko and all the best!
