Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Our 5 Most Shocking Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Moments Yet

Prepare for this Tuesday's season finale by reliving some of the season's biggest revelations.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has been a roller coaster ride of spy excitement these last few weeks as Coulson and his team of ex-special agents barrel towards a confrontation with Hydra and John Garrett. The revelations have come fast and furious in this recent batch of episodes, as motivations have been called into question, secret allegiances have been revealed, and season long mysteries have been confronted. It's all connected, and it's all coming to a conclusion in this Tuesday's season finale!

While we're pretty sure "Beginning of the End" will contain its fair share of dramatic twists, we thought it would be appropriate to run through some of the season's most shocking moments to date. Presented now in chronological order are the five "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." moments that left our jaws on the floor.

1. Lola takes flight ("Pilot")

Agent Coulson's hot ride figured into a number of the show's early promotional efforts and inspired the series' first catch phrase--"Don't touch Lola." Only the diehard fans of classic S.H.I.E.L.D. comics could have guessed Lola's big secret--yes, that Corvette can fly! Coulson revealed the car's super power at the end of the first episode, which made viewers realize that nothing on this show would be as it seemed.

      2. Skye takes two for the team ("T.R.A.C.K.S.")

If there's one thing fans of the show weren't expecting after the upbeat and entertaining storytelling innovations on display in "T.R.A.C.K.S.," it would have to have been Skye--our entry character into the wild world of S.H.I.E.L.D.--getting shot twice in the gut. The episode took a surprise dark turn in its final act, as manipulative businessman Ian Quinn took the hacker's life into his own gun-wielding hands. While we hated seeing Skye left for dead, her life-threatening injury would lead the team directly to this list's biggest doozy of a mystery.

          3. Blue. Tube. Guy. ("T.A.H.I.T.I.")

While trying to uncover the S.H.I.E.L.D. secrets that resurrected Coulson just prior to the series' pilot episode, our leading man stumbled across a big surprise. Phil uncovered the T.A.H.I.T.I. project, the very project that brought him back from the great beyond with just one catch: the life-restoring serum came from a larger than life, blue-skinned corpse preserved in a tube. We still don't know the true identity or origins of the creature, but we do know that part of him now courses through Coulson's, Skye's, and now Garrett's veins.

              4. Ward's turn ("Turn, Turn, Turn")

Just when we all thought our agents were safe after Hydra's thwarted hostile takeover, Ward went and revealed his true colors. While escorting outted Hydra mole John Garrett to the S.H.I.E.L.D. prison known as the Fridge, Ward shocked everyone by putting a few bullets in Victoria Hand and her agents, thus revealing his heart belonged to Hydra all along. Later episodes would reveal the lengths Ward went to pull off his season-long con, but none of those confessions come close to matching the complete "what?!"-ness of this turn.

                  5. The man behind T.A.H.I.T.I. ("Nothing Personal")

With their resources cut off and their agency crumbling down around them, the ex-agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had no one to turn to but each other. Realizing this, Agent May literally dug up S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secrets regarding Coulson's resurrection in order to get back into Phil's good graces. There, in a dingy motel room turned spy HQ, May provided Coulson with the truth about who orchestrated Project T.A.H.I.T.I. The man behind Coulson's resurrection? Coulson.

Be on the lookout for even more shocking moments in the "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season finale, this Tuesday on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC!
