Powerplay Entertainment, LLC (Powerplay), designer-manufacturer of interactive coin-operated game systems, today announced it has entered into a three-year, 12-product licensing agreement with Marvel Characters Inc., granting Powerplay the rights to use Spider-Man, The Hulk, X Men, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Captain America in the company's new generation redemption-merchandising games for the amusement industry.

"Powerplay and Marvel have partnered in a super deal that will bring America's favorite comic book heroes to entertainment venues across the United States, reconnecting Marvel characters and their fans," said Milind Bharvirkar, president, PowerPlay Entertainment, LLC. "Marvel is a well-known brand name, and the company has an aggressive movie schedule for the next two years. Our goal is to launch our new game systems simultaneous to each movie premier, driving fans to our machines and providing them with a vibrant gaming experience."

Through this agreement, Powerplay will introduce coin-operated games featuring the Marvel characters in the prize and redemption formats for locations such as amusement parks, arcades, bowling alleys, malls, movie theaters, pizza parlors, restaurants, and family entertainment centers.

"As Marvel prepares to debut a series of movies featuring our Super Hero characters, we are excited to launch this new initiative with Powerplay," said Paul Gitter, President, Consumer Products, North America for Marvel Entertainment.

"Every person – young and old – has an inner child who feels nostalgia towards these popular heroes who transport us to another dimension with their story lines. The agreement with Powerplay allows us to market our characters through the latest gaming systems and extend our brand in a space or location from which we have been disconnected in recent years."

The arcade games featuring Marvel characters are expected to be available this Fall.
