"Marvel vs. Capcom Origins"

In the lead up to “Marvel vs. Capcom Origins,” coming September 25 to PlayStation Network and September 26 to Xbox Live Arcade, (along with our pals at Capcom Unity) thought it'd be fun to run through the roster and highlight each of the characters from both” Marvel Super Heroes” and the original “Marvel vs. Capcom,” meaning we've got a lot of ground to cover.

We’ll give you their full stats along with where they were during the time they appeared in “Marvel Super Heroes” (1995) and “Marvel vs. Capcom” (1999). You can catch new profiles on the Marvel characters right here every Tuesday and Friday, and Capcom  has its own write up right here.

Hulk & his fellow Avengers

First Appearance: THE INCREDIBLE HULK #1 (1962)

“MvC Origins” appearances: Playable character in “Marvel Super Heroes,” “Marvel vs. Capcom”

Bio: Bruce Banner was once just a simple nuclear physicist working for the U.S. Military building a gamma bomb, until the day Rick Jones drove out onto the bomb’s testing field and Bruce was caught in the explosion saving him. Gamma radiation bombarded the doctor’s puny frame, awakening the monster inside: The Incredible Hulk, an unstoppable green goliath of limitless strength and terrible rage. Now he wanders the Earth searching for a way to cage the beast, while occasionally saving the world from foes too great for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to handle.

Hulk & Rhino play baseball in 1995

Where He Was in 1995: Bruce and wife Betty move to Florida to live a normal life, but of course all the couple finds are murderers and the Man-Thing. Then when New York City S.W.A.T. discovers the Abomination living in the sewers, the Hulk jumps over to help out, leading to a contest of champions beneath the NYC streets. Oh, and the Hulk and the Rhino played baseball on opposing teams.

Where He Was in 1999: In a brand new series titled simply HULK, our favorite mild-mannered scientist finds himself trapped inside the Jade Giant with someone else manning the monster’s controls. The Hulk’s age-old enemy Tyrannus has discovered ancient forgotten technology that allows him to take over Banner’s mind from afar--but can anyone hope to contain the power of the Hulk?

First Appearance: UNCANNY X-MEN #244 (1989)

“MvC Origins” appearances: Assist character in “Marvel vs. Capcom”

Bio: An orphan, Jubilation Lee eeked out a less-than-glamorous life in the Hollywood Mall. Security, tired of her shenanigans, sic the mutant M-Squad on the teenage troublemaker. It would have been curtains if not for the intervention of some serious shoppers--the X-Men’s Psylocke, Rogue, and Storm--who show up to save the day! Jubilee joins homo superior’s finest fighting force as the X-Men’s pyrokinetic pixie, and later helped to take down the baddies as a member of Generation X, X-Corps, and, after losing her powers during M-Day, the New Warriors.

Where She Was in 1999: Jubilee, along with her teammates in Generation X, throw down with Gene Nation who deliver the young mutants to the Dark Beast for his evil experiments. Luckily Emma Frost and Nate Grey, better known as X-Man, team up to rescue the heroes and put the former Morlocks and their master out of business for good.
