Next summer, fans will drop right into a World War II battlefield as the Sentinel of Liberty himself in "Captain America: Super Soldier," Cap's all-new video game adventure tied into his July 22, 2011 feature film "Captain America: The First Avenger." And we've got the official press release with all the details here for your reading pleasure, with a full gallery of images below!

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON – October 5, 2010 – SEGA® of America, Inc and SEGA®, Europe Ltd. today announced they will bring Marvel Entertainment's famed super hero franchise Captain America™ to video game systems in an original WWII adventure, "Captain America: Super Soldier." The title is scheduled for release in 2011 on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system, Wii™ and Nintendo DS™.

"Video game players the world over can now become Marvel's iconic super hero Captain America," said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA America. "'Captain America: Super Soldier' puts players in the boots of the ultimate Super Soldier, wielding Captain America's legendary shield. Working closely with Marvel ensures we're delivering the calibre product that gamers and comic fans deserve and it's a partnership we're proud of here at SEGA."

Players will become Captain America as he faces the Red Skull and his army in an epic third-person action adventure set in the darkest days of World War II. Wielding Captain America's legendary shield, gamers will engage in free-flowing combat and acrobatic platforming to infiltrate Hydra's mysterious castle and battle the infamous Iron Cross, the forces of Hydra, and a host of nefarious enemies serving the Red Skull. As the First Avenger himself, players must defeat the evil scientist Arnim Zola and his wartime experiments, combining powerful melee combos and shield attacks to devastating effect.

"Captain America: Super Soldier" combines a highly athletic combat system with fluid platforming and a highly tuned suite of shield attacks, as Cap explores a massive castle turned military installation. His shield can be employed in numerous ways: taking out multiple enemies at once, deflecting incoming fire back at enemies, solving puzzles, and scaling walls. Players will be able to launch shield-first into the fray with the superior force of the world's first Super Soldier at their fingertips--and they'll need every bit of that strength to overcome a castle that's both an acrobatic playground for the Captain's physical prowess and a house of mystery with enemies and danger at every turn.

The original story for "Captain America: Super Soldier" is being penned by noted comic, film, and TV writer Christos Gage. The primary writer for Marvel's AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE series of comics, Gage has written numerous books for major Marvel characters, including SIEGE: CAPTAIN AMERICA, IRON MAN, X-Men, Spider-Man, CIVIL WAR: HOUSE OF M and UNION JACK.

Gage wrote his original story for Captain America: Super Soldier so that the setting exists within the same world as the upcoming movie, but he infused the game with immersive twists designed to enhance gameplay with all-new cinematic action sequences.

I am going to get it, come hell or high water. The game looks great, Cap's image and styling is spot on the game designers should get a car load of awards..My only complaint is that "Where are the NAZI's??????", HYDRA is ok and all but this is WW-II, the 1940's not the 1950's, NAZI's are the best bad guys and the threat they posed during the war should not be overlooked or understated, there is a good reason Captain America was so popular during that time he stood freedom, justice and liberty for all, wearing the flag was a statement as well as a challenge to all who would mam, oppress, and murder for personal gain or just do evil for evil's sake to subjugate and pervert the world to there sick twisted point of view.....This game is a long time coming.....It's about damn time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think that they are doing something like Batman: Arkham Asylum (wich is great, beacuse this is the reason why i think the game will we awesome). number 1: the cap can do a lot of accrobatic stunts, like Batman...so this is where sega must increase the fighting/acrobatic gameplay.number 2: the fact that the game will be set on a military base is great, beacuse (just like arkham asylum) gives sega a chance to upgrade background details, do to the small location in wich the game will take place. not like marvel ultimate alliance 2 where the characters looked great, but the background was awfullllllllllllll.as a suggestion the writers should make a much much much darker script, and sega should get more dark in the background area.

Madonna Infiammata... Let's hope this new game won't suck...as most of the latest single player marvel games based on movies and stuff...no wonder if it turned out being another disappointment...we'll see...

Im very hopeful, captain america is one of my favorites, and im looking forward to it. Ive played a tton of bad hero games, but i also loved alot of em too. Basically aslong as its not cheap, and theyve spent time to perfect the game play., it should be awsome.

Yea i know how that goes. iron man games werent good. But Hulk: Ultimate destruction, and almost all the Spider-man games were very good. Its true they have a tendency to make horrible movie games thou.
